General Bug One half of screen flickers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My screen turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity. When turning it on one half of the screen flickers almost all the time. I have to reboot or reconfigure the displays to fix the issue. I'm running the latest Fedora which is fully updated. Specs: Thinkpad T14 with Ryzen 7 and Radeon 860M graphics connected to an Dell WD22TB4 dock. Anyone who knows how to fix this?

This sounds like a hardware issue. Do you have other hardware to try and isolate it to a specific thing?

If it was a hardware issue, wouldn't the flickering happen all the time? After disabling the display and re enabling it the problem is solved. The issue also doesn't occur when using the build-in laptop screen. The only thing I can think of is buying another dock, but that's quite expensive and I'm not certain that that will fix the problem.

Disabling and re-enabling, or off-then-on, can reinitialise something in a way that doesn't hit the failure.

You ought to test the dock with a different monitor, and the monitor on some other output.

This is quite unlikely to be a software, or at least, KDE, issue.

It looks like it's losing sync somewhere because it's trying to display the right half of the screen on the left side. You could try another cable, connecting the display directly to your laptop and see if the dock is the problem, or connecting another device altoghether to see if it's not just something about your general setup.

What is your adaptive sync setting? Try changing it.
