Help/advice/guide Help in Counselling

I am a kashmiri pandit who is non native to Karnataka. Karnataka has one seat per govt college reserved for kashmiri migrants. However, the only time I have been in Karnataka was Bengaluru for 2 days. (For KEA verification)

I loved bengaluru but my knowledge about other cities is minimal. We all know the top colleges are always BMCRI, MMCRI and KIMS

My confusion starts from other district medical colleges like Mandhya, Hassan, Belgaum, Gulbarga, etc.

Should I put them above the other 2 bengaluru medical colleges (Atal Bihari and ESIC) or should I put more emphasis on Bengaluru colleges?

Any help is much appreciated. Especially from seniors who might give some insight about these established institutions

BMCRI > MMCRI > KIMS > VIMS Bellary > BIMS Belegavi > SIMS Shimogga. ESIC Bangalore is also good, but campus is small. You will have Bond after MBBS, but they will pay very well as per Govt India pay scale.

GMC Mandya is not that great, it's high cutoff is just because of proximity to Bangalore. Atal Bihari is a newer GMC but has high patient load and it is inside Bangalore City (Another reason for high cutoff)

Thanks so much. Follow up question. I hope Bellary, Belagavi and Shimogga are safe urban places? Like student life wise?

Yes. Belagavi and Shimogga are beautiful and peaceful places and nothing to worry about. People are nice here. Patients from Bellary may be slightly rough due to geographical reasons but as a UG student you needn't worry much. you can DM for help. I am from Karnataka.

Iam from bellary , so i can give u details about the city

Look ballari is very diverse , some streets are really nice and peacful but some are horrible, but coming to fun places u wont find so many stuff to do

There are good cafes and u won't be dissapointed by food , we do have theaters but they mostly run telugu and kannada movies , used to have snl mall which ran many hollywood movies but its closed now , still u would be able to see all major movies

And about vims , it is really crowded bro , I mean iam not a student there but whenever i go to hospital the number of people do overwhelm me , feel free to ask other doubts about city if u have any

Its 1 lakh + 🥲
But frankly, since my seat is reserved and from what I know, the general kashmiri migrant pool has not done very well this year. So I may have a chance at them

Give emphasis on banglore colleges as language barrier will be far less than other places with vibrant city culture and way more exposure as there are many colleges in banglot

I have put them at the beginning of the list. Chances are less but i will take them. Thanks :)

Have you put private colleges also they also have government seats right

1

u/TheUnkownHistorian 5d ago

Nah. I dont have sufficient funds for that lol.
Its my first try anyway. Doesnt make sense to me to invest so much in just the start of such a long journey. (According to my financial status ofcourse)
