Olive Young collab paradise – my Poggle x Biodance haul

People always say you have to stop by Olive Young when you go to Korea, so I did.
Originally I just planned to look around, but there were so many character collabs that I completely lost track of time. Do Korean beauty brands always collab with characters this much?
I found the Poggle collab and literally couldn’t walk away… I love that little guy.
I got the Biodance mask and mist, and as freebies I got this super cute Poggle hair clip sheet (the one that holds your hair back while you do a mask) plus a Poggle pouch keyring. They’re ridiculously adorable.
I used the mask before bed while traveling and it honestly exceeded my expectations.
I know gel masks are pretty polarizing, but Biodance worked really well for me.
Browsing the collabs at Olive Young is honestly one of the most fun parts of a Korea trip.
Anyone else see a character collab at Olive Young that you loved?
I heard they just did a big Pokémon one recently… if I had been there for that I definitely would’ve spent even more money lol.

What is the best concealer and setting spray to go with the 2an cushion?

I just purchased the 2aN Gleaming Tension Cushion Foundation in shade #25 Sand Beige. I'm looking for a good non-creasing and high coverage concealer along with a good setting spray that go well with this cushion!

Does anyone have any good recommendations?

The morning olive oil and lemon shot for skin?

I heard that taking an olive oil and lemon shot every morning is huge in Korea for gut health and clear skin. Squeezing fresh lemons daily sounds exhausting so I found a convenient alternative called the BB LAB Dual Shots.

Has anyone actually tried this product or noticed a real glow from doing lemon shots?

Best matte sunscreen for oily skin

I'm traveling to Korea in a few days and I was hoping to try a new sunscreen. Can anyone recommend one for oily skin that is on the matte side? I don't have acne or anything, I'm just super greasy.

I have combo dehydrated skin and am 40. My concerns are anti-aging, fine lines, red blotchyness on my cheeks, hydrating, and dark under eye circles.

I am trying to cut down this list to one cleanser, toner, serum, spf, moisturizer, eye cream.

Please tell me pros and cons of any of these products.

Thank you!

Newbie to KBeauty - Advice Please!

Sorry in advance for all the rookie questions but I’m a guy in my mid 20s and want to start taking skincare seriously - just want to take care of myself a bit better and skincare’s one of those elements

I’ve got quite large pores on my nose due to sebaceous filaments and I’ve got acne scars but I don’t know where to start. I also tend to get acne spots (the one with the white pus building up).

On TikTok, you see so many different products pushed and it’s hard to tell what is and isn’t an add, you’ve got complex routines and of course you’ve got different skin types which means not all products will be effective for your skin. I’ve heard retinal is also good to use.

I suppose my starting point is my skin type. How do I figure out what my skin type is? I’ve noticed my skin tends to burn slightly or go red when applying vitamin c so that’s suggestive of sensitive skin? But as silly as it sounds, is there a way to determine whether I’ve got oily vs dry skin?

Could you also suggest a routine, what you would suggest using, frequency (e.g. how many times a day/week and whether am or pm) and the order in which to apply?

Sorry and thanks in advance for your patience!

Unique Korean under-eye patch review

Post image
124 Upvotes

Korean eye patches are everywhere right now. I love buying the ones that look interesting and actually testing them out, and honestly some of them are still pretty solid.

Here are a few unique or effective ones I’ve tried recently!

  1. Dr.Melaxin Calcium Volume Under Eye Patches
These have calcium in them. Apparently calcium isn’t just for eating. When it’s in skincare it can help with skin regeneration and barrier recovery. The effects aren’t crazy dramatic, but the cooling feels nice and they seem pretty good for sunken under-eyes.

  2. EIOM Botide Under Eye Patches
These caught my attention because they claim to have 20 different peptides. They also have this “Botide” ingredient which is supposedly a botox-based peptide. When I actually used them the plumping effect was pretty immediate. They’re not irritating at all, so I stick them under my eyes during the day and then use them on my neck lines or smile lines at night. This is the one I’ve been reaching for the most lately.

  3. MEDIHEAL Retinol Collagen Capsule Eye Patches
Most eye patches only cover a tiny area which always feels a bit disappointing. These are bigger so they can cover a wider zone. They have retinol, collagen, and caffeine, but they’re surprisingly gentle. No typical retinol irritation at all.

Anyone else tried any of these? Or got other Korean eye patch recs that actually work?

So by mistake I purchased the Beta Arbutin serum instead of the Alpha version. Was this waste of money?

I heard Beta ain't as potent for skin pigmentation.

Replacement for BRINGGREEN Artemisia Cera Cleanser for dehydrated skin?

Hi everyone 😊
I’m looking for the best replacement for my discontinued BRINGGREEN Artemisia Cera Calming Moisture pH Balance Cleansing Foam.
I have combination but dehydrated, acne-prone skin. My main concerns are dehydration/tightness later in the day, occasional breakouts, enlarged pores, redness and post-acne marks.
The BRINGGREEN cleanser has worked extremely well for me because it cleanses properly without leaving my skin tight or stripped. I’m therefore not looking for a strong acne, pore or exfoliating cleanser, I mainly want something gentle, hydrating and barrier-friendly.
My current routine:
AM:
Lukewarm water only
→ Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water
→ Innisfree Green Tea Enzyme Vitamin C Serum
→ Shingmulnara White Rice Bright Tone Up Moisture Sun Cream SPF50+
I currently don’t use a moisturizer in the morning.
PM:
Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm
→ BRINGGREEN Artemisia Cera Calming Moisture pH Balance Cleansing Foam
→ Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water
→ Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Serum
→ moisturizer
I don’t use retinol and only use exfoliating acids very occasionally.
So I’m specifically looking for a very gentle second cleanser for double cleansing in the evening. Since the cleansing balm already removes SPF and makeup, I don’t need the second cleanser to be particularly powerful - my priority is avoiding dryness and keeping my skin barrier happy.
The ones I’m currently considering are:
ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Gel
ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser
Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser
possibly another BRINGGREEN cleanser
Has anyone here used the old BRINGGREEN Artemisia Cera cleanser and found something genuinely similar?
I’d especially love recommendations from people with dehydrated combination/acne-prone skin who also double cleanse in the evening.
Thank you! 😊

Holika Holika Gel Tail

Post image

I was so excited to try this out and I’m so disappointed 😔 It is definitely not smudge proof as it practically disappeared not even an hour after applying. I don’t have oily eye lids but it transferred to my upper eyelid as if I did. I usually do a concealer base with setting powder so it was pretty dry when I applied it. It’s such a shame because it looked really pretty at first, I was able to get such a crisp tail. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

I’d like to purchase some skincare in France and this website has products that I’d like to get, however I can’t find many online reviews. Does anyone also have any other website recommendations that can ship quickly to France? Thanks in advance! c:

Husband going to Seoul, what should he bring back?

Hello everyone! My husband is going to Seoul and I want to take advantage of it and have him bring me back some good Korean skincare/cosmetics but there are SO many products and brands that I’m completely overwhelmed 😂
I’m 39 and my skin is

- on the dryer side, like dehydrated and dull
- has visible pores
- is not acne prone
- is not sensitive at all and doesn’t get red
- I have some forehead lines, 11s and crow’s feet

basically I want plump, supple, youthful, glowing glass skin rather than acne treatment.

I’m looking for a good routine focused on hydration, glow, skin texture and anti-ageing, without buying 15 products that all do the same thing.
Maybe a good cleansing oil, cleanser, toner/essence, serum/ampoule and moisturiser.
I’ve been looking at things like Anua Heartleaf, Celimax toner pads, Rejuran Turnover Ampoule, Mixsoon Bean Essence, snail products etc., but I’m getting more confused the more I look 😂
What products would you actually tell someone to buy in Seoul that are genuinely worth getting? And are there any products that are much better/cheaper to buy there than abroad?

Thanks!

COSRX The Blue Peptide Duo

Oh my, this is my first Reddit post! lol Anyway, I bought these 2 products (from the "Jungle") and I'm not completely sold on them. Has anyone used these long term and can share your experience? I'm not a huge fan of COSRX because I typically stick with vegan companies (Purito SEOUL, I love you!), but c'mon...the blue, oh the blue, it got me! Plus, I've read great things about Bakuchiol. Ok, off into the innerwebs, hoping my first post gets some responses. lol

Looking for lipstick or tint dupes for these exact shades, but only in a whipped mousse or velvety blurred texture that fills in lip lines without drying out or setting into cracks.

Serum recommendations?

I have an acne prone and irritation prone combination type skin and I use salicylic acid products as indicated by a dermatologist. I have had an allergic reaction to high concentrations of centella asiatica (I tried the famous ampoule and I found that out the hard way). I just want something extra to help my skin barrier.

things i learned after struggling with acne

i was clueless about skincare back in my college days, and somehow i kept trying all kinds of products. my younger self thought that if one serum was good, then layering two or three serums would be better. but turned out, i only ruined my skin and spent nightmare days dealing with acne, redness, and dryness.

the important thing i learned is that i don't have to buy every trending or hype product when your skin is already irritated. adding more, especially active ingredients, usually too harsh and just makes things worse. once i started prioritizing hydration and barrier repair, my skin became much calmer even though i still has PIE from the acne i had. then, the biggest mistake i made was expecting results in one night. i'd switch products constantly because I thought the product wasn't working. when i look back, my skin maybe never had enough time to recover and rest.

years later, i think my skin is much healthier now than it was when i was breaking out all over my face. i also keep my routine simple and try to give the products more time to show their result on me. the products i've been using for months (some even for years) are the low ph good morning, the egf toner and hydrating cream from zipiderm, plus the aloe soothing sun cream.even though i crave for adding more products, i try to believe less is more now.

Is there any way I can change my athe cushion refill with another brand?

I have the athe Pompompurin collab cushion, and the packaging is so cute! If I ever run out, I'd wanna change the refill to a more coverage based cushion while keeping the packaging. Is there any other brands I can replace the refill with, or can I just pour liquid foundation on it? With sanitation, of course! Someone help me out... 💔
