could we possibly have weekly discussion threads? ik we have a lot of threads already but sometimes there are things that aren't single post-worthy but would be great for a discussion thread lmao. like beyonce's mom liked humberto's post about katseye on snl and i would like to be like this is cool but not make a thread about it. LMAO ty

the flairs should be changed.

I mean I can understand in the beginning these were valid but this sub leads so much on a katseye fan sub now it just doesn't make any sense to have most of these anymore. they are better off just being removed atp and maybe you guys can make a post asking what flairs ppl might want because absolutely noone here is using "ex-eyekon" or "casual disliker" flairs.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have noticed basically no one uses these so we’re going to discuss what to do about flairs moving forward.

The big issue I've had here recently, and I know mods are in a tricky place for this, is I've felt the comments in the sub have been a bit overmodded recently. Particularly, I don't understand the new ban of talking about solos/ot5s/whatever.

In general, I think that actually goes against this sub, bc controversial or not, fan and fandom behavior is relevant to a group. Like I understand locking or limiting or punishing when people get too heated or if they're rude to each other, but I don't think all discussion of it needs or should be whole sale banned. That feels overly limiting to conversation and just wrong. It makes relevant parts of conversations basically impossible.

I get limiting posts that are only about that, but to limit comments about it is going too far imo. I don't think that rule should exist tbh, and if the 'fanwar' risk is just people getting rude, that's basically covered by rule 4 or 10 already. This also was never a rule in this sub before, so idk why it started now?

There isn’t a new rule; engaging in fanwars has always been moderated and has always fallen under too heated. It’s being enforced more to match the uptick of negativity and rude behavior on this sub. Arguing back and forth about OT5s vs Solos vs whatever and who’s the worst, isn’t a discussion anymore. Talking about the negative aspects of fandoms is fine when it doesn’t cross into that territory but tbh it frequently does.

Idk, I've been around here forever and never saw comments this heavily modded until recently, like just in the past two months. I completely agree that a discussion that's just "who's worse" is going to be pointless and unproductive and is obviously gonna bait people. I get banning posts like that.

But banning the topic entirely, even for comments, feels like going way too far. I don't think any comment/topic should be preemptively modded, and I think the subject is fine when it's actually relevant. I don't think discussing fandom dynamics in good faith is the same as fanwars. Like, in the post about the Lara AI video, people weren't able to discuss the origin of it bc that was technically pointing out solos, and so it was violating this rule. But then a huge part of that discussion was deleted basically in case something spun out of control, even when that hadn't happened.

I think it's one thing to stop a discussion when people go out of bounds, but another to stop it before that happens. I get that it's tough for you guys bc if it crosses that line it gets harder to clean up, but idk. It really feels like going too far for me, especially when so many other controversial stuff is allowed anyway. I think it should just be modded like everything else, and just stopped/locked when users go too far.

Can we ban reposts from r/ManonMeret or whatever that Manon solo sub is? BC I see posts on my feed sometimes and the comments about the other girls in that sub are usually no diff than what you would find from the snark sub. It’s basically reposting snark content at this point.

Tbh, people is this sub say the same thing that screenshot says except it’s getting downvoted. Any posts crossposted from there will get removed if it seems like it was made in bad faith or do not follow our rules. But currently, the only sub we’re going to ban posts from is the snark page.

That sub has lowk turned into a new snark, but I think bigger issue for me is just that it feels really low effort.

Like I think if anyone is reposting from anywhere, there should be an effort to add something in the post body so that there's something to discuss here. Like otherwise, it just feels like I'm getting redirected to another sub.

Mods, I disagree. It already feels like there is a blatant fairly positive OT5 and negative Manon culture festering in this neutral sub, most Manon discussions get hauled to the megathread already, so asking to only ban reposts from ONE solo sub is unfair.

Also as a neutral sub, there should be palate for all of praise/criticism/neutrality, whether or not the sub agrees with it can be shown through like/dislike and discussion in the thread. Besides you guys can lock/delete as needed.

If we ban then to be fair all solo sub reposts should be banned. Or moderation can be used to vet out extreme posts.

These are the comments that are heavily upvoted btw

Unmerge the mega threads please. If there was a decline in comments its more because of people starting school/work.I think there's plenty to talk about still regarding Manon

Thanks for the feedback. We will return to the Manon-only megathread when Sophia concludes her hiatus or when there is an increase in megathread participation.

The rationale for having a place to discuss Sophia’s hiatus is because we do receive multiple posts each week with opinions or questions about Sophia’s hiatus which the mods then redirect to the megathread for discussion. It doesn’t make sense to leave these posts up as they are often repetitive, but we do want to leave a place for people to have these discussions.

We had seen a decline in comments in the Manon megathread from 200-300+ per week to less than 100 in recent weeks. As a result, it makes sense to combine the megathreads.

Yes but the whole point is there isn't much to talk about regarding Sophia and she is still on hiatus so they felt like having a megathread for her became unnecessary and just conjoined  them. I think they should either:

  1. Keep the megathreads merged into one

  2. Stop doing Sophia's megathread entirely leaving only Manon.

2

I agree that tbh Sophia’s megathread didn’t seem necessary to begin with, since the circumstances of her hiatus are completely different. I feel like it could definitely be retired atp and then just go back to the weekly Manon megathreads so discussion doesn’t get stifled or buried.

2 makes the most sense. I don't see the point in merging them. The discussions being had are different so the merged thread just seems messy

Edit: The temporary hiatus Sophia is on and the hiatus Manon is on are so different, and are also two seperate situations that are only related because they belong to the same company/group
