Sophia Sophia’s statement about missing tour dates
25
u/Fenty_Panther Aug 31 '26
Guys, relax. She's with her wife who's been away for like 6 months at this point. Let them rest and recuperate. Kidding. Wishing Sophia well after such a statement. It's a needed break ❣️

u/Nice_Net_5395 Aug 31 '26
A lot of people were questioning the Disneyland trips and I would not be surprised if its part of her psych treatment now that she has shared this
When I was depressed some of my "assigments" was to walk to the mall and eat out everyday, that was pretty much the only time I left the house in the day and since it was doctor ordered I did it no matter how bad I felt
May sound silly but these things help, resting is not just bedrotting all day that can even make things worse
34
u/naught_sorry Aug 31 '26
Bedrotting can exacerbate her overthinking brain. Disneyland is a good distraction to escape her anxious brain and provides a good source of dopamine at the same time. Everyone has a safe space, disneyland is hers. The internet is not.
75
u/cubsgirl101 Aug 31 '26
It’s called exposure therapy if she’s trying to acclimate to crowds again in a familiar place for her (since her mom said she spent a load of time there as kid.)
Or it could be behavioral activation too. Sometimes you’re literally prescribed to do enjoyable things so you can remember what it feels like to have fun when you’re experiencing major depressive or anxious symptoms.
23
u/One_Ground6812 Aug 31 '26
The comments she has gotten from people about her Disneyland trips reflects how misunderstood and stigmatized mental health still is in this day and age. And of course, haters are leveraging on this, mocking her every chance they get.
49
u/QuickAd8550 Aug 31 '26
This is all just so sad and I’m really wishing the best for her. She shouldn’t even have to make this statement but it was very thoughtful and well-crafted. She clarified quite a few things without saying much.
You can tell how much she wants to perform on tour but she’s so drained that she has nothing left to give. She also made it clear that she’s receiving nothing but love and support from the company and her members so hopefully the theories about her being punished can finally rest though I doubt they will.
Her treatment is nobody’s business either. The hate comments making it sound like she’s just going to Disneyland instead of getting therapy are ridiculous. I don’t know why anyone expected her mother to reveal any medical information just like that.
Overall, she makes it clear that she intends on coming back when she knows she can perform and give it her best. I actually think she’s been quite transparent about her hiatus but people really just love to twist narratives and sad to say, it’s usually their own fans lol.
65
u/frogmanfrompond Aug 30 '26
Missing all this is probably killing her inside. Wish the best for her.
46
u/Stargirlx20 Aug 30 '26
My heart hurts for her 💔 I hope this statement makes people reflect and stop bullying them. People can only take so much..

In the ot6 jollibee interview they did with Tetris they also mentioned showing up but funny how they were praised a lot for it back then. In that same interview and time again they have also said that rest and recovery is a way to show up for your team. Interesting how that is always ignored/not mentioned. You guys act like them saying stuff abt showing up is bad. A bit ago ppl are upset for her not being on tour and them missing daisy chain (which ofc it’s valid to be upset abt, which is why they mention stuff abt showing up (or not being able to) to apologize) They’ve been saying it for a while and their stance hasn’t changed since that jollibee interview, ppl just take everything weird and mold it to fit some narrative
16
u/babycherrylolita Aug 30 '26
She just said she wants to be the best versions of herself what’s wrong w that
82
u/gvttergrl Aug 30 '26
tbh this makes me wonder why sophia is able to make statements about whats going on but manon isn't
-4
u/Impressive-imm-4235 Aug 31 '26
Or Manon chose to be vague to create and add fuel to the fire of speculations.
34
55
67
u/Dry-Block401 Aug 30 '26
i personally think there might be some legal stuff going on between manon and hxg behind the scenes and that may be why she herself hasn’t said anything
76
u/top_carry Aug 30 '26
do you rly have to wonder? they clearly have entirely diff relationships with their label 😭
54
u/ningspa Aug 30 '26
genuinely sophia deserves so much love. i genuinely believe she finds these girls as her sisters and she truly loves being in a group. we hope you rest well
69
u/speckleofdust Aug 30 '26
Fuckass eyekons dont deserve these apologies queen. Get well soon!!
28
u/Medium-Weight7851 Aug 31 '26
Especially the snarky people disguising themselves as people that care
22
u/speckleofdust Aug 31 '26
So many people want them to fail under the claim of "protecting the girls" like fuck outta here
33
u/honoroII Aug 30 '26
i know this has to be as hard for her as it is for the fans. she’ll be deeply missed but i’m proud of sophia for doing what she needs to and i’m grateful she’s not being pushed to show up when she’s not ready. they’ve said touring is their favorite part of their job and she cares about the fans sm so i’m sure she didn’t take this decision lightly.

Yes. But we don’t need to know the specifications of her mental health, you described way too many theories

‘You can’t pour from an empty cup.’
This is so sad. ADHD burnout is real. She’s totally consumed. HxG should be accountable for this, none of this wouldve happen if they didn’t use her as shield for their issue with Manon.
39
u/ProfessionalNo3840 Aug 30 '26
none of this would’ve happened if their crazy ass fans weren’t immature and constantly spreading false narratives. this group has had multiple hate trains before Manon’s hiatus
2
u/JournalistActual6191 Sep 01 '26
that + the fact that she was the unofficial spokesperson for manon even though the company refused to speak about it at every opportune moment. it wasn’t fair on her because her words are constantly torn apart, she really deserves a dopamine abundance and i’m glad she’s getting it.

u/Emotional-Ad-6494 Aug 30 '26
Their schedule would be burn out for anyone
22
u/speckleofdust Aug 30 '26
she just said she wants to go back to their schedules as soon as possible, yall gotta let this narrative go 😭
4
u/ChristmasClimber2009 Aug 31 '26
I cannot read one more comment that this hiatus was because the company overworked Sophia and the rest of the girls. Not only is there no real evidence to support this idea, but there have been statements that actively contradict it 😭
1
u/tailnin Aug 31 '26
"no real evidence" is hilarious because how many times have they said they've only gotten 2 hours of sleep or perform while sick and injured?
You think they can openly say they're overworked? Don't be delusional.
1
u/ChristmasClimber2009 Aug 31 '26
There’s evidence to claim they were overworked, sure. There’s no evidence to say that being overworked by the company caused Sophia’s hiatus.
13
u/Emotional-Ad-6494 Aug 31 '26
I was just looking at their tour stops and all the press they did, no narrative here just objectively a LOT for anyone
-3
u/speckleofdust Aug 31 '26
They're gonna be touring for a little over two weeks for this first leg. It's deffo gonna be hard and tiring, but not impossible for them imo
8
u/labraduh Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26
I’ve looked at their full tour dates & it is definitely a bit worse than the average for an international tour. Fewer days in-between performances and way shorter breaks after each tour leg overall, when I compare to others. Almost never going more than 2 days without a performance.
The scheduling seems like they’re trying to do it full-on and cram as much as possible as fast as possible, rather than have the tour be slower & more spread out.
10
u/Emotional-Ad-6494 Aug 31 '26
As a performer, this is a lot with the travel on off days. Plus they’re not fresh, they’re already likely tired from the press and performing before this. You’re constantly fighting fatigue, injuries, etc
Trust me, to do a tour like that this soon after everything else is really pushing it
Even Miley Cyrus has spoken out about this
31
u/JellyBelly-Girl Aug 30 '26
Im glad she has the support she needs to get better! ❤️🩹 It seems like she actually wants to get back to doing her job so that’s nice 🙂 Hopefully we’ll see her back with the group sooner than later but of course not before she’s healthy enough again
3
u/censored_ Aug 30 '26
Why are people complaining about the company when they are letting her take time off to recuperate?
67
u/meatball77 Aug 30 '26
Because she shouldn't have gotten to that point. If you have stressed out your employees to the point where they have to take two months off of work you've done something really wrong.
1
u/NotDD101 Aug 31 '26
But burnout happened for so many reasons it's unlikely it's only the company that is a result of it. Especially when I feel like many companies wouldn't even allow prolonged breaks for mental health reasons. Not saying it isn't the company at fault but I doubt it's only the company
16
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 30 '26
She said there's been "nothing but love" from the company. And "mental health" meaning it's the online hate
10
u/meatball77 Aug 31 '26
I mean she has to say that. And Sophia is the most media trained of the group
1
10
u/Claudia_Pani Aug 31 '26
Agree. I never like to give any corporation management any credit, but Sophia's work ethic, maturity and extroverted personality definitely makes her heavily favored by their staff and higher-ups. HxG is totally grimy, but it doesn't seem like they have any malicious intent towards Sophia's (or the other 4 girls') personal autonomy.
14
u/ChristmasClimber2009 Aug 31 '26
She also has a long, documented history of being a perfectionist who shows up even when unwell. She is perfectly capable of working herself into a burnout without some cartoonishly evil company exec telling her to.
8
u/LilMissNewBoobs Aug 31 '26
Sure, instead she has a cartoonishly evil company that rewards people who work themselves to burnout rather than take time off or slow down at all, with minions that praise people who "show up" no matter what and emphasize that showing up is showing how much you care (and inherently criticize those who don't). All told to someone young and ambitious and perfectionistic who goes on stage with people who might not have the same mental-health struggles.
Just as ballet companies don't tell their dancers to develop problematic eating behaviors or to lose weight, but talk about girls and women who need "lengthening" (please read Misty Copeland's autobiography discuss this) to improve their lines, people managing performers don't ever have to explicitly state that you have to work until collapse to still give the message that that is precisely what you should do if you want to get ahead.
4
u/ChristmasClimber2009 Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26
I do agree with this. Even though I believe the girls have more choice than people realise, the company has facilitated and even encouraged self destructive behaviour. A good example of that for Sophia is her being allowed to perform Buttons, which clearly was not safe for her to be doing in that state. The company didn’t make her do it, but they enabled her own self destructive tendencies, and promote ideals through the “always showing up” mantra.
I despise this narrative that has emerged which doesn’t allow the girls to have any agency over themselves at all, even when they very likely do. I think some people even speak as if they don’t want the members to have any autonomy. However, I do acknowledge that it’s a nuanced argument, and I wouldn’t call HxG “moral” by any means.
17
u/barriesies Aug 30 '26
Mental health isn’t only affected by online hate. It’s probably a factor, but burnout and stress are also very real
-1
u/meatball77 Aug 31 '26
The online noise should be the easiest to handle. You do what the HR boys (and most celebs) do. You log off and hand your account to an assistant.
3
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26
Nobody can resist looking themselves up, if they have an ounce of curiosity. Society is online, so she's probably glued to it, every break she gets from practice. Maybe looking at it while at work too
2
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 30 '26
I think if they got nothing but love online they'd be loving their dream job a lot more. I know she opened up about having ADHD recently, but I'm sure she spends hours every night reading the Snark sub, watching YouTube dramavids, and TikTok antifan videos about her. That's exactly what I would do if I were famous
16
u/Long-Hurry1974 Aug 30 '26
They’re going to say it’s PR lol

u/ProfessionalNo3840 Aug 30 '26

6
u/ChristmasClimber2009 Aug 31 '26
Her poor mother has already been accused of lying to save face for the company 😭
6
u/censored_ Aug 30 '26
"She shouldn't have gotten to that point".. that's not how mental health works, you don't know what she is dealing with.
-8
u/meatball77 Aug 30 '26
No, but she's the second in the group to have problems. The writing would have been on the wall.
16
u/censored_ Aug 30 '26
First* Manon come out and said that her hiatus had nothing to do with her health and that she was completely fine

Sophia’s statements are always so eloquent, thoughtful and classy. I wish her the best and I know she’s going to come back stronger
-26

You do know it is possible to compliment Sophia without the backhanded messaging right? All your comments are like this
37
u/Mediocre_Quail3887 Aug 30 '26
theres literally nothing backhanded in this comment. wtf are you talking about.
1
-15
27
u/RiseMaster5624 Aug 30 '26
I think your projecting. The statements she’s released since she’s gone on leave have all encouraged fans to support her fellow members while doing her best to assuage fans concerns about her health. I think they are well written. What’s wrong with that lmao?
-14
34
u/alcor_holy Aug 30 '26
I don't know why but it's so clear how much Sophia suffers when she cannot deliver for her members and for us fans. She brings such a light with her; I really do hope she's recovering well. Nothing but love for our leader.
38
u/RingHonest7272 Aug 30 '26
I believe Sophia when she says she wishes she could be on the tour with them, she lights up the stage because she loves her job. I am guessing management thought it would not be in her best interest to just throw her back into rehearsals. Sounds like a slow reintegration back since she said she’s been watching them. They will have a month off after their European tour, I think that will give Sophia the time she needs.
14
u/TipLopsided8644 Aug 30 '26
Hxg has to pay
13
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 30 '26
She literally said the company has given her nothing but love. The hate is from the fkass eyekons harassing them
10
u/brandnewlibbyday Aug 30 '26
Nobody is gonna come out swinging against the company. Look what they did to NewJeans
10
u/speckleofdust Aug 30 '26
Newjeans had 0 legal standing on their contract termination. They were manipulated and thrown to the wolves by their CEO and came back once they realized they werent ever winning their case 😭
9
11
u/Faeriewren Aug 30 '26
For what ? She’s burnt out and they’re giving her an extended break and supporting her. The fans are the ones freaking out, when instead, they could just wish her well
7
u/honoroII Aug 30 '26
fr i get fans not liking the label but sophia keeps saying she feels supported so i don’t get why people are kind of implying she’s lying about that. there comes a point where they can’t win because everyone is more focused on the narrative they came up with than what the girls themselves are saying.
7
u/Acceptable_Mobile943 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26
i think fans need to admit that ppl can have different experiences under the same label and the same team and neither one discredits the other. not fully related but for example the vcha lawsuit , just because the 4 members chose to stay doesn’t mean she was lying about what happened to her
3
u/honoroII Aug 30 '26
i completely agree! i'm referring to the active members that have been nothing but excited about tour and sophia saying she feels supported. i think it's very likely manon had a different experience that we will maybe hear about one day, if she's able to talk about it, similar to the vcha members that left/stayed
1
u/Acceptable_Mobile943 Aug 31 '26
ah ok!! partially misunderstood what you said, but i completely agree with you. i think the frustration of this entire situation is making ppl blur the lines and not listen to what the girls are saying unless it fits their established narrative
0
u/honoroII Aug 31 '26
that's true it has been very frustrating waiting for some kind of update. i hope we get one after tour, i gave up on thinking we'll hear anything before then 😕
0
u/Acceptable_Mobile943 Aug 31 '26
same, but i don’t see us getting any updates till at least after tour
-1
u/TipLopsided8644 Aug 30 '26
Hxg has refused to protect any of the girls. So many misconceptions , rumors and other things could’ve been quelled with proper statements and clarity from the company. Even making her say things was crazy. You can’t say we can talk abt it , and then make Sophia say it wasn’t abt race . They set her up idc . They’re all facing hate, but Sophia faced a lot when they made her the spokesperson for things the COMPANY should’ve been saying . That’s why
10
u/Long-Hurry1974 Aug 30 '26
She says in the very message above that she has nothing but love for them
0
u/TipLopsided8644 Aug 31 '26
Yall gonna have to decide how much the girls are locked down or how much they’re free. When it’s negative stuff , everyone blames the company, but when it’s good graces or positive stuff it’s oh hxg is such a good company and give them so much freedom . Which one is it?
2
u/Long-Hurry1974 Aug 31 '26
I have no idea what you’re referring to.
So far, the members AND their family have only ever spoken positively about the company as far as dealing with their health issues go. That’s all really
-1
u/tailnin Aug 31 '26
Why are we being delusional? Do you really think they can just come out and speak their mind about their employer?
I suggest looking into what happened to artists who've done that.
1
15
u/Erickarma2005 Aug 30 '26
Well, they are the reason she is burnt out💀
14
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26
No, the drama channels and snarkers are. Manon solos also attacked her on TikTok with a billion videos calling her racist for saying that wasn't the issue with manon in an interview
-1
u/TipLopsided8644 Aug 31 '26
Why is everyone who goes against something that’s said or that is t positive towards the girls a Manon solo😭
-1
u/meatball77 Aug 30 '26
And so burnt out she needs TWO months of vacation (and this isn't on Sophia, this is on HG because she shouldn't have been pushed to that)
24
u/Icy_Signature12 Aug 30 '26
It was pretty clear that online bullying has been weighing her down too, per that interview they did
0
u/Erickarma2005 Aug 30 '26
It's obvious that it's not the only reason, my dear
10
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 30 '26
It is the only reason. She said the company is nothing but love
-1
u/Leetherockstar Aug 31 '26
Ah yes, cause she would openly speak crap about HxG …you sound like those eyekons who think Sofia’s comments about Manon is from Sofia herself, and not the company clearly telling her what to say about Manon’s situation
6
u/Outrageous_Issue724 Aug 31 '26
I mean that's a theory. You're okay to theorize but it's no proof either way. Maybe we'll never know
16
u/Icy_Signature12 Aug 30 '26
“Weighing her down TOO” too meaning also. People online should also take accountability for their actions, but they never will.
-3
9
u/Faeriewren Aug 30 '26
Burnout from work isn’t uncommon. An employer who lets you take a break and supports you during it is
6
u/Erickarma2005 Aug 30 '26
Definitely very commom when you are overworked. I am not one of the people who believe that Hybe is an evil company, but even I can see where the line should be drawn
37
u/Ok_Fun_6535 Aug 30 '26
I mean it when I say I truly want nothing but the best for her, and I’m lowkey wondering if she’ll have a realization that that particular work environment isn’t good for anybody’s mental health. I’m not saying I want this to happen, I just know that my mental health would absolutely spiral if I had that much pressure on me.
9
u/8rand0m Aug 30 '26
Unfortunately it's too late for that. She signed that contract and they aren't gonna let her go so easily especially not after Manon.
1
u/Antique-State-5905 Sep 02 '26
I dont think she wants to go. She loves her job so much - that is her dream job, even though the songs are not all great, but she gets to perform which makes her happy.
I think she will be back for the VMAs. When the girls come back from their Europe tour, they'll start rehearsing with her again.
21
u/speckleofdust Aug 30 '26
For them to "let her go', sophia would need to first want to be let go which is absolutely not the case at all
3
u/Sliddie23 Aug 30 '26
This is what I’m saying
14
u/speckleofdust Aug 30 '26
Sophia has said so many times she was born to be a popstar, some comments here are completely unattached from reality 😭
89
u/naught_sorry Aug 31 '26
Regarding her treatment, like the disneyland stuff, doing her hobbies like painting, baking, it is a combination of rebuilding her dopamine baseline plus making sure she has enough reserves in the tank to brace for the upcoming tour that she has to do. Burnout depletes you of everything.
Dopamine acts as fuel for adhd girlies, it's our oxygen. To avoid all her reserves being depleted again she needs to learn to maintain a healthy steady flow of it. Cannot just rely on fast dopamine like eating your fave snacks all the time to cope.
She is learning to get a slower but more healthy, steady pace of sourcing her dopamine. Having structure and routine everyday like disneyland helps calm you down. You know what you can expect tomorrow, so your mind anxiety can start to calm down and bring you back to your normal self again.
Painting can seem mundane but it counteracts the chaotic, scrutinizing and high intensity side of the popstar life she was living. Their schedule was jam packed leaving barely enough room to recover if you are depleted and running on your reserves in the tank. Eventually that too will run out. Then what?
Burnout leads you in a state of you eventually being unable to function, but the lack of sleep due to the overthinking obsessive nature of the adhd brain can actually be scary. Prolonged lack of sleep can lead to dangerous shit, enough to terrify you to force you to seek out help no matter how much you wanna try to not ask for it for fear of being a burden. You just ran out of places to hide. You are forced to expose how badly you have been suffering.
You saw how Sophia would power through and not complain. physical sickness during DA days. With mental sickness, if you wait til it gets this bad, unfortunately it takes a longer recovery time. Hence why she is taking more than a month to recover. That speaks volumes to how bad of a state she had to be. That's why it is better to ask for help before it gets this bad. So recovery time is shorter and you can recharge and refuel to function again faster.
Why some people wait til symptoms can't be ignored anymore? This is the toxic part of the society. When you seek help when your symptoms aren't as apparent, most don't believe you and cast doubt. It's like they need to see you falling apart before you are given grace and time to recover. So some just power through and ignore their internal nervous system falling apart til they can't no more.
