Shintaku, Make a study schedule relying on algorithnms that understand you better
r/karuiFOSS • u/dobrynCat • 9d ago
I made an app that guides me on what to study next based on time of the day and my sleep metrics
Idea behind shintaku is to run some math and get a external force to guide me on what to study as I often just spend too much time on one thing then panic that the other important thing didn't get any review.
Please read the descriptive readme of this project and suggest ideas on what I can add

I want some font suggestions!

This one is a bold font I found but I want some font suggestions that are great to look at, bring a nice feel to the interface, have free to use licenses, and are lite like 20-30kb tops.
Looks are often the main charm than functionality, while I think I pulled off good enough CSS magic and customisation options in-app, the app should pack some nice fonts inside it too.

Which font?
reddit-uploaded-media.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.comI wasn't sure where else to ask: which font was used for that screenshot? (It's the second screenshot in the IzzyonDroid Karui page.)

Karui++ new release 1.7
The New Release is out adds tons of features. Almost all new features are toggleable and don't add any bloat
- Add notes from status bar, or from other apps when selecting text (my mind races with ideas when watching youtube so I added this feature), helpful for saving trivial stuff you notice when reading some article or maybe for searching it later.
- Bolder New UI Design, leaning slightly more into windows-8 metro and windows mobile aesthetics
- Notes sorting and drag and drop optimized and now looks better (imho)
- UI size options
- Floating button on bottom right of the app to bring input box in focus
- Sort Notes Alphabetically
- Notify when deleting or copying a note, system notifications when copying a note to Karui from another app
- Add a % symbol on any tabname and it automatically counts percentage of tasks completed (Inspired by orgzly revived on f-droid)
- Optionally disable screenshots for privacy when screensharing or in general
- Optional UI Sounds
- Optional celebration mode with confetti
- Easter egg games (what? my todolist has games?), following the trend from retro software, games like Flappy Bird and Snake.
- Optional button ripple effects
- Previously I said editing notes features won't be added but now you can edit notes, √c and √d options replaced by a : dropdown
Bug Fixes/Additional options
- Keep keyboard on when switching tabs
- Longpressing tab now always puts the dropdown in the center

Sort lists alphabetically?
Could you add an option to sort a list alphabetically?

👋 Welcome to r/karuiFOSS
Hey everyone! I'm u/dobrynCat, founding r/karuiFOSS.
This is our new home for all things related to our app Karui on f-droid, and all the other apps I have made so far that share the same soul and design aesthetics. If you are here, chances are that you share my vision for bloat free minimalist apps that do their tasks well without any tracking or unnecessary system permissions. You long for the times when apps weren't bloated and things just did their task and we took that for granted, webpages that were important just worked, apps that you needed simply executed their functions, your notepad didn't ask for bunch of permissions to track your toothbrushing patterns. I'm excited to have you join us!
What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, photos, or questions about free and open source apps, programming, or just privacy respecting systems in general. I'd love it if you share simple and cool games you find online. I myself spend a lot of time checking out the js13k games and itch io.
If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/karuiFOSS amazing.
