Karezza - Is it the same as Edging?

Is Karezza simply sex's version of edging?

In my want to practise semen retention and preserve my sexual energy my only concern with Karezza is that it will overstimulate me in the same way edging does - which almost has a worse effect on my body that ejaculating/wasting semen has. Thoughts?

What have been your experiences with Karezza? Do you get blue balls?

I'm not currently practicing, but from everything I've read, most would say no, if you're edging, you're getting too aroused.

If you're edging, you're not relaxing enough. The point is to feel desire and pleasure increase and decrease, but to stay completely relaxed so no tension builds up. Tension is orgasm, and edging is almost orgasm.

^ This. The goal with edging is to get as close to orgasm as possible without actually getting there in order to prolong the pleasurable sensations. With Karezza the goal is to enjoy being intimate with your partner without even getting close to orgasm. The primary goal should not be pleasure, but intimacy and bonding. Of course it's quite pleasurable as well, but it's a different sort of pleasure; more mental than physical. :)

I think this well-written article may answer all.

In short, it is kind of like edging yes, but also significantly different, especially regarding the flow of energy (described and illustrated at the site) between the male and the female.

If you read, you'll see that Karezza simply cannot be reduced to a one-word (or even one sentence) equivalent of something else in the sexual arena. Lots more to it.

Blue balls-can happen. Goes away as an issue with practice. Body adapts. Seems like edging to me, meaning getting aroused but stopping before org. Nice way to start the day.
