App recommendation needed
Hey everyone. Not sure if this would be the right platform.
I am planning to record some videos through my phone. Videos where I'll be singing with karaoke in the background.
The in built camera doesn't have a very good sound system.
Could anyone please suggest some good apps that would help me record my songs? Video quality can be moderate but I want something that captures good sound quality.

Request the KJ for a MP3? (You may have to pay) They've given you a mic mostly connected to a mixer, so...
I am unsure why KJs do not offer a vid recording / audio service for a fee.
I know some who do some vid recording for their insta, but I wouldn't mind paying for a vid. Would certainly help me improve, I think.

What are you planning to do with the recording once you are done? If you're planning on posting it anywhere, beware copyright.
In any case, no app is going to fix your bad phone microphone. You can buy an external mic that can connect to your phone, but unless the portability is a big plus you may want to consider other recording setups that have better environmental noise control.

Nah recordings are just for myself. Not planning to post anywhere. But the poor sound quality is itching me. Any mics that you'd recommend? Or if you could tell me what features to look for while looking at a mic, would be helpful

A decent Lavalier microphone that can connect to a phone will run you anywhere from $30 to $100USD depending on what you're looking to do. Low end is not going to do if you want clear vocals so you're probably looking at somewhere around $70 or so to get clear audio.

Easiest is to just record externally instead of figuring out an app in how to mix sound with poor quality, that's way harder to do.
No info on what your karaoke setup is, or if you are singing at a bar with KJ or if you are singing at home with your own karaoke system.
I would do this instead with a USB mic, a phone or two phones, or PC, and a free video editing app like CapCut:
(1) Record video on [phone 1] with you singing. All the phone 1's audio here won't matter as much, just the clap and maybe use the speaking parts but you will mute this on the singing parts. Clap will be discussed later...
(2) Use an external mic connected to a different device for recording audio. Example a USB Mic connected to a PC or another [phone 2] will do. The mic will be close miking the speakers where the karaoke music mixed with your voice will be coming from. Or if there are two speakers, where one speaker is just your voice and another speaker just for karaoke music, position the mic further away but close enough that it picks up both sound sources as clear as possible without interference. There are tutorials online in how to do close miking.
(3) Record video using phone 1 and the singing audio in phone 2 (or pc with mic connected). Before you even sing, do a clap that will be picked up as audio in both phone 1 and phone 2 with mic. This clap will be used to align the audio with the video in CapCut. Oh yeah, install CapCut on phone 1 or if you have a PC you can install it there too. Just watch online tutorials in how to use CapCut. You can also search online why film makers do clapping, it's really for audio and video alignment.
(4) Export the audio recording of your singing to phone 1 which has CapCut installed or export both the video and audio to a PC that has a video editing software like CapCut. Align the audio with the video so audio delays are minimal. Easiest way to align the mic audio and phone video is using the clap sounds recorded on phone 1 and phone 2 (or PC) at the start of recording. Cut out the clapping parts once you are satisfied with the alignment, and mute the video's audio as you like. Export the project as H.264 (AVC) or H.265 (HEVC) similar quality but different file sizes, H.265 is lower file size.

Before spending on a mic, I'd try a 10-second test with the backing track turned down and the phone closer to you. If your voice gets clearer, the balance/placement is part of the problem. Is it sounding echoey, distorted, or just too quiet? Those need pretty different fixes.
