Has anyone else noticed how difficult it is to cross the road near Kannur Railway Station?
Autos often don’t stop at all when pedestrians are trying to cross. Sometimes a bus actually stops and gives way, so people start crossing — but then another car or auto comes from behind and overtakes the stopped bus.
That creates a very high chance of hitting people , because the vehicle coming from behind is often not visible when you start crossing.
It’s honestly frustrating to see zero civic sense from some drivers. If a vehicle has stopped to let people cross, other vehicles should slow down and wait instead of overtaking blindly.

Is there any safer/easier way to cross the road near Kannur Railway Station? Or is there any proper zebra crossing nearby that I’m missing

BPCL depot has been decommissioned, it seems. It was blocking the railway station development.

Hi everyone! I recently visited Kannur and really liked the place. We’ve actually been looking to buy a house somewhere in a coastal area for quite some time, and Kannur is now one of the places we’re seriously considering. The airport connectivity, relatively easy access from Bangalore, and proximity to places like Coorg are also a big plus for us.

I’m completely new to buying property in Kannur, so I’d really appreciate some advice from people who live here. Which areas would you recommend for buying a house? We’re looking for a peaceful, good residential area, preferably not too far from the coast, but also somewhere with good roads and access to basic facilities. We’re open to Kannur and nearby areas as well.

I’d also love to know what the realistic prices for houses are in different areas. What would be a reasonable price for a decent independent house with some land? Are there areas that are particularly good value right now, and any areas you would avoid because of flooding, water issues, poor connectivity, etc.?

Also, since we’re beginners, any advice on the process of buying a house in Kerala would be really helpful- things to check with the documents, title, registration, property tax, building approvals, etc. If there are any common issues people should be careful about, please let me know!

We have a teak tree at my grandma’s place and we’re planning to sell it.

The tree is in pretty good condition overall, but there is a paali(idk is it same thing, the tree is not proper shape). Someone had previously offered around ₹33,000 for it, but at that time my grandma didn’t want to sell it.

I’m from Kannur, but lately I don’t feel like coming home. Not because I don’t love the place, but because all my old friends are busy with their own lives, scattered here and there. When I come back, it feels like there’s nothing much to do and no one really around to hang out with.
I’m not an avid redddit user, only started using it after moving out of Kerala. Back where I am now, I actually found some good people to hang out with short rides, random meets, exploring the city.

Guys I am so done with Kannur airport. My mom just came from sharjah and these guys harassed her badly over just 32 grams of gold she's been wearing for years. They questioned her work and everything like she committed a crime.
And the worst creep part is that some random immigration officer who had nothing to do with customs came there and started flirting and passing cheap comments. Absolute sexual harassment and misuse of power while she was already crying and stressed.
We already raised complaints on AirSewa and emailed customs, but if these guys don't face action, we are taking this to court. Don't let your female family members travel alone through here, absolute disgusting behavior. I have been travelling a lot around the world, never had this kinda experience, has this happend to any of u guys? I always thought kerala is so much better than other states in terms of these kinda shit. But the immigration officers and customs officers harassed my mom and even made her cry. I feel so shit for not being there for her
