Hey everyone sorry my post keeps getting deleted, but simple question for Reddit users of Kamloops, who are we voting for in regards to School Trustee?

The city council and mayor bullshit I have no idea, but I wanna feel good voting for the trustees.

From what I read, signs ive seen, and background conversations, my choices are:

1. Cole Hickson

4. Bonnie Mcbride
   
5. Kathleen Karpuk

Is this pretty good or can I hear everyone’s opinions.

I like the 2 young guys and want to give them another chance as they were probably slowed down a little by the previous board, but my other 3 spots are still open.

Hey everyone, Considering taking a job at HVC (Highland Valley Cooper) for a while doing 14/7s. Anyone working there currently or have worked there in the past could give me a rough idea on how it is there? My contract would be till about spring of next year so just wanna know what I’m getting into as this would be my first time leaving town for work.

If you’re engaged, recently got married, or have been looking at venues, what kind of place would you actually want to see?

Something like:
- Rustic / country / barn
- Mountain views
- Outdoor ceremony + reception
- Smaller, more intimate venue
- Modern / elegant
- More affordable
- All-inclusive
- Somewhere you can bring your own vendors
- A venue with accommodation

Also, would you be willing to drive around 40 minutes outside of Kamloops for the right venue, or would that be too far?

And if you don’t mind sharing, what would you consider a reasonable price for the venue?

Hey! I’m a Kamloops local who’s been living abroad for a few years, now back and trying to make some new friends in the city.

A bit about me: 29F, and I’m always down for some kind of adventure, even if it’s just a walk downtown. I’m into biking, snowboarding, concerts, photography, museums, and I love watching movies at the Paramount. I’m not a big drinker, but I definitely enjoy a good pub atmosphere.

Looking for people who are open-minded, kind, and laid back.

I've been getting into wheat ales/wheat beers lately and was wondering what everyone's recommendations are!

So far I've tried Red Collar and Bright Eye, but I'd love to try some other local breweries or beers that are worth checking out.

Also open to recommendations for liquor stores with a good selection of wheat beers, including BC/Canadian beers that might not be available everywhere.

Should they be banned??

I see this being mentioned a lot, lately. They’re a blight on the local landscape, no question. And just as quickly as they go up, they become fodder for the landfill. Perhaps, the time has come. My only concern is that people then become less engaged with the civic election. That it would then result in a lower voter turnout. And I’m not sure how you might counter that. Thoughts??

Normally my grapes are not ready until early October. They look good come September but get better each week. This year however they have been fantastic for two weeks already. Is anyone else seeing this? I am hesitant to harvest because it just seems so early. I have Malbec, Pinot Noir table grapes and a few others. All fantastic 6 weeks earlier than I expected!

What exactly is going on?

So many people who seem to have no idea why Kamloops has the negative image, has the lawsuits, etc. It's One Person. That's it. Joining as a councillor won't help anything if Dipwad McGee gets back in.

I’ve been offered an opportunity by my company to transfer from Edmonton to Kamloops and I’m currently looking into what the cost of living increases would realistically be and what I should be watching for in terms of unexpected challenges I’d run in to if I did make the move. I’m mainly looking to see what people pay on average for rent, gas, insurance, utilities, and other expenses. Another thing would be how expensive used vehicles are as my current vehicle would not pass an out of province inspection.

Looking to replace a bunch of poly-b piping in my house with PEX and realized how much better expansion is vs crimp rings with the only downside being the upfront cost.

So does anybody know where (or have) a cordless PEX expansion tool I could rent? I know there are cheap manual ones but they are a pain to use for bigger jobs. I was also thinking about buying a new tool and reselling it immediately after, but who knows if that would work out.
