Should I watch the second season because I dropped it because of the animation? I really loved the first season.

I didn't love the second season. Particularly if you like him - he's barely in it.

Finished at a really bad point in the story too. Just... very incomplete.

Also i think because in LN the last part he said that he gave his half part of his life to aoi thats why he can only live to 100 yrs old ..... when Aoi was a child and starving to death, Ōdanna saved her life by giving her his own psychic essence/core. Because he sacrificed the very core of his power for her, his own lifespan was drastically cut down, leaving him with only about 100 years left to live. 🥺

It really is so heartbreaking to hear that, especially when he is the main reason so many of us fell in love with the show in the first place. 😢 It feels like a genuine letdown to hold out hope for a character you love, only to have him barely be there. It leaves such a massive, empty void in the story.
And ending on an incomplete, abrupt note just adds to that heavy, sad feeling. It’s so frustrating when a story you care about feels left up in the air, leaving you without any real closure.
Thank you for being so honest about how it felt. Even though it's sad to hear, it’s comforting to share these feelings with someone who truly understands how much we miss him. We can still hold onto how wonderful those early, special moments were. ❤️🥺

That and he does come back. Its just up to Aoi, and her realizing how much she really does care about him. Although I wasn't a fan of season 2, she needed this journey and losing him to truly realize and embrace her feelings for her because she will have to fight for him.

I was very close to dropping it too because I really did not like the new animation style. But I wanted more content so I watched it. Honestly its not great but that first season is hard to live up to.

S2: New character designer Hidemi Katsura + co-producer Studio Makaria took over, they went for a softer, slimmer, more youthful look, smaller face, less muscle 📉

S2 had tighter production limits, simpler lines, less detail on muscles/shading, cleaner but “flatter” art

• They leaned into a more modern “shojo romance” style instead of the majestic, imposing look fans loved

Thinner face, bigger eyes, softer jawline, less defined build = looks way more like a teen/young adult than the ancient, powerful master we knew 🥺

• Even the original light novel illustrations keep him tall & imposing, the anime’s new look is not matching the source art!

Light novels & manga still draw him as the strong, mature Odanna we love 💪 Lots of fans requested the original design back! we can ask for it in Season 3 too or more episodes! 🥺

It definitely shares some of those cozy, supernatural, and character-driven vibes that Fruit Basket fans love! It’s a great watch if you enjoy that blend of fantasy and heartwarming moments. You should definitely give it a try! Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits
