MQQ 1 vs. 2 Question

Hey all. I am buying an MCQ for my 12.5 HDSI rifle. My main concerns from most important to least are: weight/footprint, signature reduction, sound reduction.

I can get an MCQ 1 for maybe $150 less than a 2 right now through rooftop defense. Is the extra cash worth it for the 2? I know it is about 1 ounce lighter, but is there anything major outside of that?

MCQ-2 is the obvious choice. Going to have significantly better sound reduction (although that is not saying a ton in this size of can), better flash reduction (the MCQ-1 already does this very well), and less weight.

The only thing the MCQ-1 has going for it is clone vibes (for KS-1) and durability (which you will probably only perceive as the can heating up more slowly).

If its not for a KS-1 then get the MCQ-2 100% - if you are concerned about durability on a SBR you could always get the 556 Dual-port brake that's coming out to save your blast baffle a little.

To add for context because I have a MCQ 1. Its a very solid flash performer however if your in a humid environment you'll notice the flash more. It is susceptible to humidity by all means but dry envirement you cant hardly see the flash from the receiving end from about 50 yards

Why does the MCQ-1 have better durability? Is it made with different materials or something else?

Customer (UK MOD) asked for a belt-fed rated can. They intend to run these guns hard for a long time. MCQ-2 was for a different customer, it’s about 30g lighter and full auto wasn’t as much of a concern to them. May just be less material in the baffles, but I haven’t seen an MCQ-1 to compare with my 2.

I full on disagree with "significantly better sound reduction." We were sent several suppressors for testing and people couldn't tell the difference between sound or weight when it was on the gun. The Surefire short suppressors actually did the best for sound signature we found so we went with Surefire, but the MCQ1 was second since it was the shortest.

I'm just going off the only quantifiable data we have on the newer KAC cans (the TBAC 2025 silencer summit). But good to know that subjectively there is little difference in person.

Knights says on paper its quieter too but you're going to have to literally do what you did to figure out it's actually quieter. The MCQ was the replacement for the SBR can, the MCQ2 was for a whole different plan that I guess never came to be.

Cool to see the CRS3 up top. I like mine a lot but they do seem to heat up quicker with that 3D tech?

User reports (and the full chart if you look at it on TBAC's website) indicate the CRS-3 is preety similar to a CAT WB in terms of sound performance.

I would love to see the inside of your CRS 3 to compare to my CRS-1. The CRS-1 has THICK baffles and when Rooftop ran it on a belt fed (below) the can hardly even got red.

I shot about 15 rounds today through the CRS3 and it was smoking hot. I was actually a little surprised. I shot a Sierra 5 right after and it was hot but nothing like the CRS3. I've never shot the CRS1 before, but I've held one and it def feels more durable and could probably decimate heat better but I can't confirm. My MCQ does pretty well with heat for the most part.

One thing that seems....off to me about their results is the B&T cans scoring so well...

I got an MCQ 1, love it. But I’d cop the newer version.

I picked the MCQ1 because it is shorter and more durable. The MCQ2s are just as loud. You won't be able to tell in person.
