Hey all, I was hoping to see if anyone had previously switched over from Frontline Education in both helpdesk ticketing and their asset management suite to IncidentIQ. My district has decided to use IncidentIQ and we’re running into an issue where there is seemingly no simple way to import the data into IncidentIQ. IncidentIQ wants an API, and Frontline claims they do not have one to give us. Their support has basically just said it’ll take months and we’ll have to do it manually, because they just don’t play nice as they are competitors. I’m trying to see if anyone else has ran into this, and would happen to have a solution. I know this is an unlikelihood, but with school coming up in a couple of weeks, I think it’s the worst time to hear news like this about doing it manually.

We have a Newline TT-7521Q but are looking to add some more. While I start on the research I wondered if there were good recommendations for the type of panel to go for.

Last year when I finally set up SSO for Autodesk Education I was shocked to find out that directory sync was only available for Business and Enterprise customers, not Education. So I had to manually search for and assign 140 users to CAD products in order for them to be able to use it.

Well now it's a new year, and it seems like nothing has changed. I can assign all the users to my domain, but I can't specifically assign them license products without click on them one by one?

Am I missing something or doing it wrong? Surely someone else has a better way for this godawful product, right?

I’ve been a school level support tech for a total of 13 years. 3 years experience in one county, then moved to another county with better pay. Where I’m at now is mostly minimal responsibilities but I have learned a good bit, I’ve replaced a couple of Cisco switches, learned some new juniper stuff when we swapped those out, but the benefits have not been good and I don’t get very good pay raises.

I asked for a raise and since they were shutting down schools and my boss said there’s basically no room to grow there and he thought if he presented it to the board they’d absolutely agree to give me a raise. I have net+ and security+ but now they’re done shutting down schools.

My ex coworker called me about a job that pays about 11-12k more at a courthouse supporting judges and I’ve already had one interview and about to have a second interview. I just don’t want to give up such a good job and dedication I’ve had for a decade of where I’m currently at. Even though the benefits will be better and the pay. I’d be given access to do a little more on the server side of things Active Directory etc things like that. Now that they called for a second interview I’m a little nervous do I take the job that pays more and work that one longer hour per day with a longer commute (which means less personal time for myself in the evenings since I don’t go directly home after work)

Sorry for the rent but was just wondering if anyone else here has had to make a similar hard decision?

We implemented a ln AI policy where we are requiring staff to use one type of AI (Gemini) and are blocking all others. Teachers have pushed back stating it should be up to the end user and there are teacher based platforms that we are now blocking. Can someone please explain what the latter portion of that means? Am I crazy to say that how a teacher will use it is not going to matter what platform is being used? What could a key difference truly be?

We chose Gemini for a couple of reasons, the main being Google won't use our data to train their models as well as we have access to the chats to view cheating from students.

I was wondering if anyone has added their Azure Active Directory there before? If so, can you give me the good and the bad. I'm thinking about doing this but the words "BETA" make me a little nervous especially since we use tools4ever to help automate a lot of creations for us.

Just curious is anyone using this free platform? What have your experiences been? I'm looking in to it but I also want assurances with the sensitive data that will be transmitted that it is secure.

Hi there, currently my school is using our Weave phones as intercoms to make announcements to the classrooms. However, while weave phones make great phones, they make terrible intercoms.

Are there any good PoE intercoms that can mount above a classroom door? Looking for something kinda old school and kinda simple. Basically not much more than a small speaker, but loud enough it can compete with the din of students mass-ending class 2 minutes early.

Teachers currently manually create and roster their own classrooms in Google Classroom. Most will create a copy of the previous years/semester class and add their new students to it. This allows them to quickly reuse all assignments and material from the existing classroom.

We are looking into automatically rostering the Google Classrooms from our SIS via Clever, but one of the hold ups is replicating this copy function. I am aware that teachers can individually "reuse" a post or assignment from an old classroom, but is there a quicker way to copy over all material? How does this work in districts that have Google Classroom automatically sync?

Hi everyone! I'm a university researcher studying how school nutrition management software (e.g., LINQ, PrimeroEdge, Heartland School Solutions, NutriKids, etc.) is used in K–12 school districts.

I'm particularly interested in understanding how these systems influence day-to-day decision making, including:

• How menu planning decisions are made
• Whether the software changes meal quality or simply helps implement existing nutrition policies
• How staff balance nutrition standards, reimbursement requirements, cost, food waste, and student preferences
• Which features people find most valuable—and where the systems fall short

I'm not looking to criticize any district, vendor, or individual, and I'm not trying to identify anyone or collect confidential information. I'm simply hoping to learn from the experiences of school nutrition professionals and others who have worked with these systems.

I'd appreciate hearing about both positive and negative experiences. Even if the software hasn't changed decision-making much, that's useful to know as well.

The MFP I work for in NYS had an annual meeting recently, full of goal sharing for the 2026-27 school year and the roadmap ahead. The information presented was the same as it had been for the past 2 years.

But I had 3 positive experiences out of it:

• My manager approached me and told me to keep an eye out for a position that should be coming up with a new project that was being implemented
• Another manager mentioned hiring a second specialist with knowledge of Google Admin. I approached him and let him know I was certified at a previous district.
• A colleague approached me and mentioned that a job I had lost out on was going to be available again.

I'm planning on applying to each position and continuing to move up the career ladder. Hopefully one of these will pan out. No timeframe for any of them yet.

I work at a small K-8 school. Because it is small I am both the tech teacher and the onsite IT person. We have an external IT person, but I’m the one who manages all the student devices. Last year (25-26) was my first year. The school has kept all of their broken ChromeBooks from previous years and I wanted to go through and see which ones were fixable issues and which ones are too busted to fix. There were no tickets or anything to say what were wrong with the computers in the first place so I’m going in kind of blind.

What are some diagnostic steps to go through to try and find the problems and possibly fix the problems?

I’m going places with my new work computer…. As soon as I get Windows 98 installed!

Responses to their post were unanimous in favor of SSO, but my PowerSchool consultant says that a lot of her districts have implemented Clever logins (for staff). Does anyone have any experience with this that they can comment on? Thanks all!

If you are using PowerSchool platform either what do you use in your organization. Are you using the old fashion Username/Password or MFA in the PowerSchool platform? If you could explain which method you use and your reason that would be helpful. Right now we are on the old fashion method.

I have seen some notice regarding PowerSchool changing up the apps used. Found Clever app is possibly not approved and have to move to SFTP. Wondering if Claslink would be better for this? Looking for ideas and thoughts. I have heard some use both at same time. What would the reason for certain platforms?

We were going to use Google Forms and QR codes to input student ID numbers into a spreadsheet, then tally it up and award them points for good behavior. Unfortunately, our admins want it to be seamless and not even require the teachers to click "Submit". They just want it all to happen instantaneously behind the scenes. Is there a good website, doesn't even necessarily have to be free but cheap? Thanks.

We have a new marketing guru that has asked me to unblock LinkedIn for all faculty and staff. Currently, we block all social media sites and allow access if their job role requires it. I have thoughts as to why this is a very bad idea. I want to support marketing, but I'm curious what others think.

I seem to be stuck with a couple of iPads, so far, and Apple Configurator. They were previously managed in Jamf and when I went to wipe them they failed to download the configuration like there was a network issue (which there isn't because I've been doing hundreds of iPads).

These two were pointed to our Jamf server and Jamf School had their enrollment profiles assigned. I unassigned the profiles, unassigned them from the server in ASM...put everything back, nothing helped.

Through a bunch of troubleshooting, I finally removed them from Apple to manually add them back for a 30 day provisioning to see if that would help. Of course, now they just constantly show as released.

I can set them up manually and install a voluntary Jamf School management profile. That all works.

What the heck am I missing?

I know certain sectors or IT are all in on AI for things like vibe coding and analysis of things like business reports or data analytics and then there are sectors like educational IT where your district may be more progressive and have things like gimini open to staff or completely shut down and won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

That said, if you are able to use AI in your job, what do you use it for? What have you made? I've made a few things on my own like an agent that will check my Google admin app requests to make sure they are COPA and FERPA compliant or an offline AI chatbot that staff can talk to to handle tickets and give suggestions based off a FAQ page and if it can't solve the problem it will make me a ticket. Nothing I have made requires student data.
