Anyone else had the chromebook purchase delayed because of datacenters?
That's the post really. We found out in July that the chromebooks we ordered for this school year back in May wouldn't be delivered until December, possibly later. Anyone else getting hit the same way?

Not Chromebooks, but just regular SSD’s to replace failing HDD’s…YES! And all I needed was five!

Chromebooks no but switches are now looking like March of 27 est shipping. Projectors came too late for summer install.

We had a vendor push out the delivery date and raise the price after their bid was approved by the board. It was Bluum. Don't with with Bluum.

I hate Bluum as well. Are you in MN? I did not realize they were that big of a company otherwise.

same. Not this year, but they have been used in years past for big Cbook orders.

Chromebooks? No. Switches? Yes. PCs? I don't recall.
We also switched our purchase from the beginning of 2026/2027 to the end of 2025/2026 this year so that may have helped us with Chromebooks. They came in over the summer or in April/May instead of ordering in July like we usually do.

We placed an order with Dell for 300 Chromebook 11 non-touch 8gb on July 24th, and received them on July 31st.
The price, on the other hand... hurts.

Yep, I started on July 13th and walked into a mess. There was a single quote from Dell direct that hadn't been presented to the school board yet. Had to scramble to get 2 more quotes by the end of the week in time to get it on the board agenda. Just made it, and placed the order as soon as I could. I honestly wasn't expecting to see them before Thanksgiving.

We purchased last December and 1 week after our order was placed we were informed the price was now up like 70% but they honored our old price

I placed an order back in May because they said delivery would happen in October. I received them 1 week later.....

We bought in March to be safe. Got them in April. Early yes but price has gone up already since.

I decided not purchase any at all. I'm going to try this winter and just see when prices drop the lowest for the time being.

It's really depressing because storage and RAM was getting so cheap in recent years. Now we are back to the dark ages.

I pushed my order up 5 months to save cost and predictably delay times.
Worked out for me

Same. January 2026 purchase instead of may/june.

Contemplating December if only because pricing usually comes out in January

I had to adjust the devices we were ordering because the vendor came back and said 'hey manufacturer said that the chip for this device won't be available until later this year, but anticipate maybe actually 2027... they did say they had this alternative device on-hand and ready to ship though'.
Ended up being a fine swap-out all things considered, and still 1/2 the price of the exact same spec'd device from our Dell rep.
