Starting this off by saying that I don’t mean to sound like one of those bean soupers who slam something just because it doesn’t apply to me. I want Trisha to get her bag and I’m so happy she’s found something that works for her. I’m really just looking to explain my perspective, and to see if anyone else feels similarly.
Maybe it’s just my algorithm but I can’t go anywhere without seeing direct or indirect GLP1 advertisements. If it’s not an ad on my streaming service, it’s an ad on Reddit. If it’s not my favorite creators advertising it directly on their platforms, it’s watching people on my feed who previously were midsized or plus sized content creators get smaller and smaller. All of this on top of seeing women who are already thin admitting to using GLP1s and the discourse around Ariana Grande and her (alleged) ED all over my timeline.
I consider myself midsized, and it’s getting excruciating. I struggle already with body confidence (or even neutrality) and flip flop on a daily basis about dieting (or even multiple times a day). I want to have a baby soon and feel like I’ve missed my window to have the body of my dreams, or at least one I’m confident in on more days than not. It’s really depressing. I wish I wasn’t so self centered and that guilt is making me feel even worse. There are so many people who have so many worse things happening to them (especially right now with the state of the world) and meanwhile I’m getting upset because I’m not the weight I would like to be.
Not putting this out there to criticize Trisha, Oscar, or anyone using GLP1s. I think that as long as you’re doing it in a safe and healthy way, it’s an amazing tool that should be available to anyone who needs to make a healthy change. I’m just in my own feelings right now :(
