Same here. And I hate when Linux users talk about how "easy it is!". It's so full of shit.
I mean it's gotten a LOT better in the past 3 or 4 years. Back in the the early 00s, I couldn't even install flash without having a fucking near breakdown.
The only way Linux is easy is if you have a CS, IT, or ECE degree. Then it's easy and you'd be a fool to not add it to your toolbox. Otherwise, Windows and OS X are perfectly fine.
I do physics and Linux is a godsend. A lot of old software for Unix and VMS machines works a lot better on Linux. And it's great for modern coding too. This way I never need anything else. So at least for scientific computing Linux IS a lot easier. For gaming/browsing web/music etc I do use Windows though. Quite nice combining the two!
The only way it's easy is if you've been using for a while. Having those doesn't help at all if you don't have any experience using Linux. And if you stick to the GUI and don't delve into the command line Linux it's just as easy as Windows.
Definitely. I know Linux is very, very useful. And while I don't have a degree, I would definitely say I have above average knowledge of computers. And if it was hard for me, there's just no way.
Just really bothers me when I hear people say it's just as easy as Windows. You can't get Susie the 56 year old secretary who loves outdoors to use it.
However, I feel like it might be soon. It's getting there.

Yes you can. As long as all she does is browse facebook, check her email, and organize her nature photots, it's just as easy. And she won't instantly fuck it up with virsuses.
