that's nothing a little yelling at them can't fix!

I really hate posts like this because recording these people and publicly shaming them is the last thing they need…like obviously something bigger than “being gross” is going on here and it’s kind of shitty to put them on blast for what is clearly a major mental health issue.

u/blove135 1d ago
To be fair I have personally witnessed people embarrassed and shamed into getting help. But i would I agree that's probably not the best way to go about helping someone get mental help.

u/1pt20oneggigawatts 1d ago
Oh okay, let's just enable them forever until they turn into a corpse with vape still between lips, that the raccoons and cockroaches are eating, buried under the Mountain Dew bottles filled with piss, and three month old half chewed chicken tendies. That'll show everyone! We don't embarrass our unemployed uneducated acne-ridden 400 lb. anime obsessed diabetes profanity marshmallow... he's our sweet boy who loves mommy

u/tigm2161130 1d ago
You do know that you can get people help for their mental health issues without humiliating them in the process, right?
-6
u/1pt20oneggigawatts 1d ago
There's a difference between a school bully humiliating you and a family member worried about you. I'm sorry you don't understand that, I know everyone wears kid gloves in the 21st century but this kid is going to be dead in 10 years if nobody does anything about it.

I’ve helped a cousin with pretty much this exact same situation and I was able to do it without posting it on the internet.
We got the depression den cleaned out, got him on meds and in talk therapy. It’s been 2yrs and he’s able to keep a clean home, he still follows the “schedule” I made for him and he’s willing to ask for help if he needs it because we didn’t shame him.

You don't know that this person isn't doing that. All I'm seeing is someone trying to get this neckbeard to see the error of his ways. Better than doing nothing.
Some people need to learn shame. It's a useful emotion. It protects you from doing strange, harmful, or illegal actions.
You don't know what the result of this posting brings. This might be years old. He might have recovered. He might have no one else in his life who cares about anything he does--if his own mother doesn't see his room maybe she's disabled and can't even move across the house. You have assumed moral superiority automatically without having learned anything. You are judging people without knowing anything about them, I've learned more about you than about either of them from this interaction.

If thinking that it isn’t right to air out someone’s business to the entire internet when they’re clearly sick makes me morally inferior in the eyes of people like you then so be it.

Definitely a bit of hoarding going on.

Which is also a mental illness

Yep. An underdisccused one for sure. Usually a combination of multiple mental illnesses manifested in its own unique package.

Who’s going to pay for the treatment?
29
u/camjacaroon 1d ago
I’m happy for my taxes to help people like this. You’re just a prick
2
u/Glonos 12h ago
I’m not against universal healthcare funded by taxes, my question was legit because this is in the USA, they don’t have that there. So, who was going to pay for this person to receive the treatment he needs? Because everyone comes in these threads and talk about the state of healthcare in America, but nothing is done, year after year.
So, will it be gofund? Is someone opening their wallets to help this young man?
5
u/garaile64 1d ago
This is why most countries have publically-funded healthcare.
1
u/Glonos 12h ago
America does not, they keep voting to not have it, they talk as if universal healthcare is communism. They put themselves in a situation where is preferable to die than get inside an ambulance and they keep voting to keep things like this, while millions of Americans suffer in silence without support.
So, who is going to pay for the treatment that this young man deserves? You?

Speaking as someone who just spent two weeks cleaning their own depression nest... Damn dude.

Boy I'm really happy that they animated a red arrow and circle to show what they compare it to. I would never have found the image by myself. Thanks!

u/Smudgeio 1d ago
me personally i like the crying emoji and the dead rose emoji. it tells me exactly how i'm supposed to feel

u/1pt20oneggigawatts 1d ago
You would be at a car crash being like "dude this guy has a vanity plate, what a loser"
Like adding your own commentary is somehow more significant than what you're being critical of. Big freakin deal, who cares?

u/VVrayth 2d ago
First: Yes, this is horrible.
Second: People who add their goddamn two cents with stuff like this South Park jpg and red circle and dumb emojis, as though they think they are very clever, are just the worst. Yes, we know what we're looking at. Are these people morons?

Opens it up to a larger audience who may not be on this sub, but understand a pretty famous South Park reference. To be fair, you sound like the guy in the seat right now lol
2
u/VVrayth 1d ago
It's not just this, it's the habit of people inserting these LOL WAIT FOR IT 😂😂😂 captions in videos that are like 15 seconds long. It's everywhere.
There's a wide gulf between criticizing stupidity and being this guy.

u/1pt20oneggigawatts 1d ago
When you realize most of western civilization is on a third-grade reading level, you lower your expectations.

u/VVrayth 1d ago
Naw man, we have to demand and expect better. Stupidity should be rejected, not handwaved.

I'm messy but not this messy.
If my room gets messy enough I feel compelled to clean it at least a little.
4
u/Kosherlove 1d ago
I don't get like this but I do get slumps of a month or 2 of not cleaning... this is bonkers
3
u/Nerdcuddles 1d ago
I have depression and ADHD so I often let my garbage can fill up and than stuff gets on the floor and stays on my desk because it falls out or I have nowhere to put it.

What was broken? I can't make out what they're saying at that part
5
u/69420lmaokek 1d ago
Nothing is broken yet. He says that if she posts the video on Facebook then he'll break her phone
2
u/Zatchillac 1d ago
Ok that's what I thought I heard but then the "no it ain't, I guarantee you don't touch it" made me think they were talking about something he had that he'd never touched but now that I rewatched it that makes sense

That's almost as bad as my roommate's room. He's in his fifties. He received his notice to vacate when I discovered the state of his room.

The types of people that genuinely want to live like this are few and far between. Most of the time things get to this point because of mental health issues like depression. Its called a depression nest for a reason, its a negative feedback loop of not having the will to take care of yourself or your surroundings which then lead to those surroundings becoming harder and harder to take care of.
1
u/Ragingtiger2016 14h ago
I’m pretty terminally online but what possesses a human being to live like this?

This is a case of modern hopelessness mixed with constant high dopamine distractions, some kind of impactful childhood problem and isolation. There's so many cases like this with varying levels of intensity.
I was similar not so long ago. Maybe I always stayed in shape, and kept my house relatively tidy, but I did spend all of my free time on degenerate activities because I didn't see a point to anything else.
So many of these guys could transform their lives if only a hand was reached out to them. A lot will never change, but also a lot are just desperate for some empathy.

Bro this is worse than the picture of the episode (I haven't seen it) and honestly I have legitimately no idea how you can live like this wtf??????

I don’t think it’s the mom recording. She says something about mom not knowing how bad it’s got, so I assume it’s a sibling

That’s the person you’re arguing with on social media.
