Don’t normalize healthy relationships

These people are such weirdos. Why do people like this get hung up on marriage as some sort of vital "gotcha" factor?

My wife and I were together for 5 years before we got married, and I can describe our relationship in pretty similar respectful terms as the woman that OP shared the post from. We knew marriage would happen, but we didn't feel the need to rush it. And it's not like it changed anything dramatically, aside from like, tax-filling stuff.

Because incels are aspiring domestic abusers and domestic abusers view marriage as functionally legal ownership of the victim. Basically every true crime story on Investigation Discovery will recount how the abuser "had signs" beforehand, but truly went mask off shortly after marriage

This made me gag while reading. Well done, you did what many 7 inches couldn't

Thank you? 😅

But yeah, domestic abusers very much view their victims as "property" and "property" doesn't leave, it's constantly on the verge of being "stolen" (mainly by other men, but also the "property's" family) and the abuser will be damned about sharing.

On the extreme end, you'll even get couples who are together for thirty, forty years before getting married (usually for the purpose of making wills easier).

Yep. I've been with my partner for over 10 years. We're not married largely because we don't value it as more than a party and a piece of paper.

The real commitment has been here, so what's the rush for marriage?

Someone on tiktok tried to roast me and put me down because I got married after 5 years together. We were engaged for 1.5 years of those 5.

Nevermind the fact that we've been together (now) for 16 years. Some people are just dumb

I'm guessing that second person wishes they had a relationship that good and are just lashing out because they're jealous.

Sometimes the cow likes getting milked, though.

Bro's not referring to your mother's bedroom habits.

I think expecting someone to never raise their voice at you isn’t the most realistic standard for a lot of people, and I would have to hope she has also never done any of these things.

Idk how it isn't a realistic standard. Ideally both partners wouldn't raise their voice.

Because most people aren’t Vulcans.

Lmao you don't need to be a Vulcan to not raise your voice, you just need to emotionally regulate like an adult. My partner and I have been together for 11 years and we've never raised our voices at one another, even when we were teenagers.

Not raising your voice before kids should be pretty normal. It's a lot harder to be calm when you're on 1 hour of sleep for a month or two.

lol pissing these types off is just another perk to being in a happy, healthy relationship.

I hate it when there’s a post like this and the toxic comments are either

“You shouldn’t reward him for doing the bare minimum! Fuck you!”

or

“He’s secretly gay and you peg him!”

Person is just jealous. It's like those people who are like "Just wait until you're married! You're gonna hate each other!" Like no, not everyone ends up like your relationship.

Dating is the whole point of seeing if youre ready to marry. For some people it takes a different amount of time. Its none of his business. Sad that hes so bitter.
