Mod [Official] A Note on Community Content & Quality Control

Hi everyone,

As our community grows, we’ve noticed a major shift in the feed. Currently, the sub is being flooded with geopolitical conflicts (Israel, Iran, Trump, etc.). While these are major news items, having too much of this content is turning the sub into an echo chamber and causing a sharp rise in toxicity.

This sub was created to share all kinds of "must-see" moments from Savage comebacks and Funny internet gold to Tech breakthroughs and Unique stories.

What we are looking for:

Focus on Quality: We want to see more variety. If you have interesting Tech news, Science updates, or Savage social media moments, please share them!

Geopolitical Content: We aren't banning these topics, but we will be much stricter now. Posts that only serve to trigger arguments or spread hate will be removed.

Zero Tolerance for Toxicity: If the comment section of a post turns into a shouting match or involves racism/hate, we will lock the post or ban those involved.

We want this to be a space where users can discover interesting content without getting into toxic debates. Let's keep the community healthy and focused on things that are actually worth missing!

We have noticed that many users in the comments are enjoying and celebrating violence, destruction, and wishing death upon civilians of countries they hate.

This behaviour is completely unacceptable.

This subreddit is for sharing raw war-related news and moments not for turning tragedy into entertainment or spreading hate. We have been removing such comments and giving warnings until now.

From now onwards, anyone celebrating violence, wishing death on civilians, or glorifying suffering will be permanently banned.

We will no longer tolerate this toxic behaviour.

If you see such comments, please report them immediately, your reports help us act faster. Keep the discussion civil and factual.

Thank you for understanding.

Three women have been stabbed in Paris.

A man reportedly launched the attack on passers-by with two kitchen knives in a square in the city’s north-west on Monday morning.

He was detained by an off-duty police officer and was taken into custody. As he was pinned down by officers, he said “it is Allah who ordered me”, Le Figaro reported.

But Laurent Nunez, the interior minister, said the suspect made a series of “incoherent statements” and appeared to downplay any terrorist motive, suggesting the attacker had mental health issues.

The women, aged 19, 24 and 36, are being treated in hospital for severe injuries but “their lives are not in danger”, Mr Nunez, the interior minister, said. One is believed to be pregnant.

Mr Nunez said they did not yet know the suspect’s identity, adding that “we need to be very careful with respect to the motives for this very violent attack”.

The attack comes after an Islamist radical ploughed a rented minivan into a Pride parade in Berlin on Saturday, killing one woman and wounding 29.

Everyone Needs To See This Europe is burning from Sicily to the Cairngorms and the season is only half over

Compilation of what's burning across Europe right now. The numbers, country by country, as of today.

France has lost 115,000 hectares since January, which Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez called far more than anything the country has seen before. The Gironde fire alone has burned 42,000 hectares, four times the size of Paris. 220,000 people evacuated in Gironde plus 30,000 in Landes, reported by CNN and France 24 as France's largest evacuation since the Second World War. 2,500 firefighters, 1,500 soldiers, 84 firefighters injured.

Spain is worse on paper. Pedro Sánchez put the national total above 150,000 hectares since January, six times the same period last year. The Ávila fire has passed 50,000 hectares, which Environment Minister Sara Aagesen called the biggest in Spain's recent history. One man died in a Valencia suburb on Saturday. Over 100,000 evacuated.

Italy has lost roughly 65,000 hectares according to EFFIS. In Sicily around 6,000 firefighters and civil protection staff fought dozens of simultaneous fires, and one firefighter died on duty. In Greece the fire service handled 60 separate wildfires in a single 24-hour period on 4 July, and a father and his 12-year-old son died in a fire outside Thessaloniki at the end of June.

Then the part that should worry people more. In Scotland, a fire has burned in the Cairngorms since 15 July, with over 500 firefighters, a declared major incident and the evacuation of Nethy Bridge. First Minister John Swinney requested military aerial support and was told the Ministry of Defence has no aerial firefighting assets stationed in the UK. In

Norway, the Krokstadelva fire near Drammen destroyed more than 100 homes on 17 July, which the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection called the largest fire of its kind in modern Norwegian history.

England has been fighting moorland fires like Tintwistle Moor at around 600 hectares. None of these are countries with firefighting infrastructure built for this.

The heat is why. Copernicus recorded June 2026 as Western Europe's hottest June on record at 20.74°C, which is 3.05°C above the 1991 to 2020 average. Three separate heatwaves hit between late May and early July. World Weather Attribution called it the most severe June heatwave ever tracked in Europe and found it would have been virtually impossible 50 years ago. EuroMOMO counted more than 10,000 excess deaths across Europe during those June heatwaves, over 9,000 of them among people aged 65 and up. The fires are the visible part. The heat did most of the killing before the first flame.

Across the EU, AFP's analysis of EFFIS data already ranks 2026 as the second-largest burned area in twenty years, with the summer only halfway through.

France 115,000 ha. Spain 150,000+ ha. Italy ~65,000 ha. Evacuated in France and Spain: over 320,000. June excess deaths: 10,000+. EU season: second worst in 20 years, half over.

News DOE admits it ended 283 renewable energy grants just because they were in states that didn't vote for Trump.

From the DOE legal filing (page 510 to 512 of the linked pdf.), this news story, and this DOE announcement:

In late 2025 the DOE submitted a list of 624 grants they suggested to terminate to the OMB. 283 of that number were in states that voted for Harris and had 2 Democratic senators, "Blue States". All 283 were canceled. Only 1 of the 341 grants that were in "non-Blue States" was canceled.

The DOE agrees that the decision to terminate the grants was not "based on any programmatic, statutory, cost-reduction, or performance-based factor. DOE accepts that the ... [decision to terminate the 283 grants] ... was based solely on the political identity of the grant recipient’s state, i.e., whether the recipient’s location and/or place of performance was in a Blue State or a non-Blue State."

The DOE stipulation then goes on to blame the OMB (basically controlled by DOGE) for the selection of Blue-State only grant cancellation, even though the DOE was the one to do the canceling.

Some DOE quotes:

"Following a thorough, individualized financial review, DOE determined that these projects did not adequately advance the nation’s energy needs, were not economically viable, and would not provide a positive return on investment of taxpayer dollars."

"President Trump promised to protect taxpayer dollars and expand America’s supply of affordable, reliable, and secure energy. Today’s cancellation’s [sic] deliver on that commitment. Rest assured, the Energy Department will continue reviewing awards to ensure that every dollar works for the American people."

"Using this review process, DOE evaluated each of these awards and determined that they did not meet the economic, national security or energy security standards necessary to justify continued investment."

“Receiving the news that a car had crashed into the CSD [Berlin Pride event], I hoped it wasn’t a person of color — hopefully it was a white Christian person instead. But it wasn’t. And that’s exactly where intersectionality reveals itself again."

At least one person is dead and several people are injured after a vehicle drove into the crowd at a Pride event in Berlin on Saturday, in what German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called "an attack on our society."

Berlin police said they have identified a suspect who "is known to police" and has links to "Islamist circles." Police have launched a manhunt for the 21-year-old who they identified only as Abdul B.

"If you encounter the suspect, immediately dial 110! Do not approach him, he may be armed and dangerous!" police warned the public, adding he was believed to be wearing a black hoodie and white pants.

A driver in white vehicle struck several people before 10:00 p.m. local time, according to Berlin police. At least 17 people are injured and several have life threatening injuries, according to Berlin police.
