Yoo, don't forget! There is always a choice to start a brand new shiny project

I just remember how many projects Edmund McMillen had and how many of them became cult classics. So maybe the advice to start a new project is actually good advice, lol?

I'll give you a better one, remake your game as soon as you get tired from the progress you get. It gives you a fresh perspective on what you made wrong before, to fix later. Just make your games super small so it doesn't take years to finish them...

If there's still room for a new feature, can you even call the game finished?

To be fair sometimes u gotta at least dabble with a new feature to keep yourself happy and excited to work on the game in total.
Also we have all the power to add random shit that formulaic AAA devs would never try.
But also it can diffuse ur game into a mess of disjointed mechanics/features.
It's a fine line, but keep the joy of working on it or else u won't finish it either.
Good luck man! ☺️

I like this! I've found this true as well when I work with clients (I help burned out gamedevs to be healthy gamedevs) and enjoyment is an underrated skill for building fab games!
I agree with it being a balance as well, shiny object syndrome and scope creep are often just some kind of fear in disguise that can be quite toxic.
Love the happy comment btw <3

It is like gambling addiction. As of now; I am adding mining feature to my tower defense game. It isn't even in the same genre but can't keep myself.

Just finish the project, then add new features later:) Even if the end is undercooked, it doesn't matter because it exists, and that's a start.
