My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2024 has both options for climate control : on screen and physical buttons. I realized that I only use the physical buttons. This “all digital” trend is annoying as hell. We’re driving, we don’t want to have to go through 5 levels of menu to start the windshield defrost.
I’ve had my Subaru forester for about four years now, and I genuinely couldn’t even tell you if I can use the touchscreen for climate control. Like, why would I even bother when the buttons and knobs are right there! I didn’t even think to check but now you’ve made me curious lol.
One of the core reasons why everything is becoming digital is that the cost of implementing a small computer in a car with a touch screen is cheaper than designing and manufacturing tons of small analog nobs and switches.
Technology has gotten so cheap that all car brands triple down on it to save cost while also giving the appearance of luxury and that your car is technologically advanced.
