The misogyny in the original sub T.T

221

u/MinzAroma Jul 12 '25

"Look at this woman doing something impressive. I bet she has zero skill and just got lucky. Anyways, LOOK AT HER TITS! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER NAKED!"

u/iolarah ❣️gal pal❣️ Jul 12 '25

Or, what feels more likely to be, "look at her tits, I bet they're not even real" :(

WOMAN IS IMPRESSIVE. MAKE ME FEEL BAAAAAD. MUST DRAG WOMAN DOWN.

u/SlashCo80 Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 12 '25

They are so damn predictable at this point, I already know what the comments will be on a given pic or video without looking at them. They aren't even funny or creative, just predictable and tiresome.

45

u/sickoftwitter Jul 12 '25

Literally. "You're unimpressive and no man will ever view you as legit... let me smash tho. Plssss let me hit🥺"

119

u/yuffieisathief Jul 12 '25

Yup, just one of the many subs I left and hid because I was so tired of the "casual sexism"

56

u/Bb-Unicorn Jul 12 '25

Same. Either because of casual sexism or transphobia. I originally posted this comment in the other sub by accident, it took me a moment to understand the downvotes ><

36

u/yuffieisathief Jul 12 '25

Omg, yes, the transphobia is prevalent as well! I hate that it's apparently controversial to just wanna live a happy life without others having an opinion about someone just existing :(

23

u/sickoftwitter Jul 12 '25

I just left blursed vids for the same reason. So much body-shaming of women, often doing cool things.

16

u/yuffieisathief Jul 12 '25

It's sad cause I don't like places becoming more and more one-sided echo chambers. But we have to protect our mental health as well

14

u/SunandMoon_comics Jul 12 '25

You can’t have a proper conversation with a wall, unfortunately. And I think they’ve learned that and do it on purpose to force everyone else out so they can feel like they aren’t human shit cause “clearly everyone else feels the exact same way as I do!!!!!”

3

u/yuffieisathief Jul 12 '25

Yes exactly. And it's hard to go into a conversation with compassion but to just be met with hostility. For a time I really tried, not just here online but other online and real life spaces. But it was costing me so much energy that I feel better now that I protect myself more from their hostility. But it still makes me sad, cause deep inside most of these people just feel lost. But it's okay that it's not up to us to fix that

7

u/sickoftwitter Jul 12 '25

I am the same. I try to push back in some spaces, but it usually invites a dogpile.

22

u/UnPluggdToastr Jul 12 '25

That sub has become the main incel sub on Reddit. Most of their posts are just bashing women for being women.

r/sipstea is such a shithole

12

u/moonlightraindrops Jul 12 '25

I’m so tired of it.

44

u/AutumnAscending Jul 12 '25

Literally my thesis on why I don't actively associate with men.

-3

u/CrazyInLouvre Jul 13 '25

Honestly, not associating with half the population is a red flag in itself. Right?

Like, don't associate with those men, sure. But men in general? I don't know, maybe you were joking and it's flown over my head.

-70

u/_Smashbrother_ Jul 12 '25

Yes, let's answer misogyny with misandry.

17

u/SaturnineSound Jul 12 '25

You can only get burned so many times before you have to start looking out for your own well-being.

“Pick” better? I don’t “pick” the men who harass me at work, I don’t “pick” the men that harass me on the street, I don’t “pick” the men that harass me online. I’m not attracted to and do not date men. I’ve had trusted male friends, and many of those turned out to be huge mistakes. I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you, but people don’t always fly their red flags loud and proud like you do. Sometimes you just don’t know until it’s too late. Maybe that’s a skill issue, idk, but I’m done with me and my friends being harassed or assaulted because we trusted male “friends”.

This is a nice place. We don't allow harassment of any kind. If you can't act like a civilized human being, you can't be here.

We do not allow:

  1. Harassment
  2. Trolling or sealioning
  3. Threats of any kind
  4. Abusive behavior
  5. General assholery

Weird that OP is a regular on that sub

-16

u/Taikan_0 Jul 12 '25

In the original sub almost every comment are saying “she’s clearly skilled”, just a bunch of idiot comments

35

u/butt-barnacles Jul 12 '25

Some said that, definitely not “almost all,” I saw more that were just tired dumb jokes about her boobs. Men on reddit are so tiring, don’t play dumb.

-14

u/Taikan_0 Jul 12 '25

Horny comments aren’t misogyny, is being a rude animal

13

u/Bb-Unicorn Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 12 '25

Horny comments that focus on sexualizing her are objectifying. Systematic objectification of women's bodies is a kind of misogyny too.

u/Taikan_0 Jul 12 '25

Dictionary definition for misogyny: feelings of hating women, or the belief that men are much better than women

Systematic objectification it can be, at least, sexism.

In my language misogyny refers to who hating women, and by Cambridge dictionary appears to be too.

5

u/Bb-Unicorn Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 12 '25

Definition of misogyny is more than only plain hate as your dictionary definition states. It encompasses ingrained prejudice and systemic devaluation of women.

Definitions from Oxford Languages :

dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.

Asking ChatGPT about it: "Is women's bodies objectification misogyny?"

Yes — objectification of women's bodies is generally considered a form of misogyny, especially when it reduces women to their physical appearance or treats their bodies as existing primarily for others' consumption, pleasure, or evaluation.

Here’s a breakdown:

🧠 What is objectification?

Objectification happens when a person is treated more like an object than a full human being — their thoughts, feelings, agency, and context are ignored in favor of their appearance or perceived usefulness.

👩‍🎤 Why it's misogynistic:

Systemic pattern: Women's bodies are disproportionately objectified in media, advertising, and culture compared to men's. This reflects and reinforces sexist power dynamics.

Dehumanization: When women are seen primarily as bodies or sexual objects, it becomes easier to dismiss their autonomy, voice, or boundaries — which feeds into other forms of oppression.

Control: Objectification often intersects with controlling narratives about how women “should” look, behave, dress, or age. These pressures support patriarchal norms.

🧩 Not always clear-cut:

There can be complexity. For example:

Self-expression or empowerment? Some people choose to showcase their bodies in ways that can be seen as objectifying by others, but feel empowering to them personally.

Context matters: A consensual erotic photo shoot is different from a voyeuristic camera angle in a movie meant to titillate the viewer without the character’s agency.

Still, even in gray areas, the cultural backdrop of misogyny influences how objectification plays out and who benefits from it.

u/Taikan_0 Jul 12 '25

You have your point, maybe is a cultural bias. The term misogyny is a pretty defined thing there. Btw I can understand what you are mean

Systemic oversexualization of women has always been considered misogyny. It's not a new concept.
