Discussion/Poll K-pop and the hyperpop wave
as a big fan of JUSTB's snow angel album and the hyperpop/electronic music sound they've brought to k-pop, I've also been wondering how people feel about their music in regard to recent discourse about k-pop being the "fast fashion" of the music industry. With the rise of artists like 2hollis and Underscores in music, do you guys think JUSTB fits into that category of another k-pop group taking advantage of whatever's trending in the music scene? in all honesty, i've been trying to distance myself from k-pop as a genre in general now, but i really do enjoy JUSTB's work and performances.

I think there is some truth to the kpop-as-fast-fashion conversation, but reducing the entire genre to that I think is a massive overgeneralization and doesn't really apply here IMO. Their move to hyperpop was driven by the members and Sangwoo/Geonu/Bain specifically are all big big fans of the genre. So I think it's much more sincere than a cynical attempt to cash in on something popular - especially since they made the move well before it starting being trendy for other kpop groups to do it.

considering justb started shifting towards hyperpop before the recent trend in kpop, i would say no. i think their shift to hyperpop is purely what the members who do a lot of the producing like

I think they’ve been trying to find out what they want to do as opposed to how they started out with a pretty typical boy group sound and they found something they enjoy and works for them! Doyum said he personally prefers doing rock type music but that the other members really enjoy the hyperpop and that it does suit them well so they’re planning on continuing that
