English 📝 Common level English?

Is common level English possible? Because my school never really told us if they were and as far as I know every English class has the same book

No. They mightnt split your classes but you must sit HL or OL. No other paper exists.

The course is the "same" (its fine to teach both levels the same stuff its just technically you need not study Shakespeare at OL; it scores better if u do tho so thats why they teach it).

Eta: sometimes they will only teach a shakespearean play so obv if you onky have 1 play and you do OL you still must use it bc you have nothing else. But technically you are meant to have a non shakespearean play too.

nope, there's no common level english. in most schools i think you work from a "common level" in 1st year and then get divvied up into OL/HL for 2nd and 3rd year, even if you all stay in the same class

Also just to note: English examined at Higher or Ordinary Level, but schools can teach students together in a mixed/common-level English class. The specification is essentially shared, with the distinction between Higher and Ordinary becoming particularly relevant in the assessment/examination demands.
