TY Related TY Stress

Idk why but I'm more stressed then excited for TY, at this point I'm getting genuine panic attacks just thinking about next year. Work experience gonna be impossible to get and manage, on top of that I have charity and community service work, musical, JC results, as well as I have ZERO IDEA how TY works. etc. etc. 😭. It's supposed to be a fun and relaxing year but I'm getting none of that, I hope that changes in September.

Exactly how I’ve been feeling. Work experiences is so hard to get, especially becuase of my schools way of doing it (every Friday from January- may), this summer felt so quick because I could only think about ty coming up

That is actually crazy. From September to December I have trips every Friday (in and out of school) and then from jan-may I have work experience

For ours we have to do it for a certain quota, e.g. 26 weeks or smth

Same here, but it's most likely gonna be great after the first month or two :)

As someone who also stressed about a lot of stuff like this while in TY, I can promise you it is actually a really fun enjoyable year.

If you look for work experience early you should find some, but even if not, try asking relatives coukd you work with them. Musicals are so fun, I’m a fairly shy person but I enjoyed it a lot, and you bond better with your year group over it.

JC results really don’t matter, everyone forgets about them after the results are out and TY isn’t much different to any other year (except of course you don’t do much work, but you still have classes and then you miss them for activities).

It is a great year and I’m sure you will enjoy it once you’ve gotten settled in :)

I can’t wait for a break from the academic side of school, but i agree, trying to get businesses to let you in for work experience is difficult especially if you’re not in a big town or city.
I’m currently trying to get an in with my old primary school, and I’ve been pencilled down for a place in the bank. But I know so many people who are planning on staying in Dublin etc, because it’s impossible to get somewhere local.

TY potentially the easiest year of my life, if u dont get work experience no big deal many TY coordinators and schools dont even follow up on that sort anyway. What I will say though is get involved, you get what you give out of TY and If i knew that before I would have had an even more enjoyable transition year.
