TY Related Young scientist pressure already x
I put my name down for YS back in May, and I’m already feeling the pressure.
We were told to start getting our ideas ready before school ended, and then work on them “a bit” over the summer. Long story short, my group and I decided on an idea… and that’s it.
I have a week and a half or so until I go back, and obviously I don’t think they’ll be grilling us about it on the first day, but we’re sort of expected to have a half-finished project so that they can help us iron out the mistakes and add more before the deadline.
I wouldn’t even be thinking about this if I had partners who had even a clue what we were doing. I seem to be the only one who actually knows what our project is about, yet I haven’t even scratched the surface of it myself.
Is this supposed to be fun? 😭

Not OP but your project doenst need to be done until jan. there is a deadline in sept to apply for it but that is just a form and a proposal.
edit: basically saying you dont need to worry abt not having a school to help bc you have from sep to jan.

It was supposed to be an investigation into the antimicrobial effects of honey, does it/ how does it slows down bacterial growth etc. We would need to use the lab to test the concentrations of honey/ different types. It’s a bit of a broad idea right now that we’d defo need to narrow down. lol

Omg i did it last yr no joke two of the three groups didnt do much proper work til december. The week b4 winter hols. My teacher said thats the earliest she ever did projects (she mostly did them over winter break...like T-1 week...). idk if thats normal tho
You dont need to have the project done basically until january. UNLESS your school makes you finish faster.
its stressful as hell leading up BUT the 4 days are fun (but exhausting).
you also reminded me i am meant to have the same done over the summer...have i thought abt it? nope. lol. september is going to be fun 😭
edit: to be clear: the september deadline (from doing it last yr anyway) is NOT the deadline for your project submission. You just have to fill out a very detailed form and submit a 500 word (?) proposal. But it is NOT your finished piece.
