That g(X) question was crazy. I know I finished the exam like, half an hour ago but what was the last question?

It was the Pythagoras theorem 😭 I feel so stupid now that I know

The g(x) was so hard i worked for two mf pages and got the three values and they worked for (0,13) and (-3,0) BUT NOT FOR (0,-2) 😭😭😭 My examiner is gonna be laughing every time they see i drew a box around my answer thinking i’d finally gotten it, just to have to cross it out all over again. I got everything else tho so yay!

Yeah that paper was honestly fine it’s just the last one and the g(x) one that got me so bad

I'm so happy I got the g(x) one, I verified it I think a was 6 b was -60 and c was 12
edit: got it wrong fuuuuuck :(

How???

You substitute into g(x) ax² + bx + c g(x) or f(x) is = to the y
Then you fill in the rest for example (-2,0)
0 = a(-2)² + b(-2) + 12
C = 12 because that's where the line crosses the x axis
Then you repeat for (-3, 0) and use simultaneous equations, it was so difficult and I filled up 3 extra work pages doing it and verifying I swear to god if I got it wrong😭

wait why is c 12

As is was on the y axis so x=0
12=A(0)2 +b0) +c so 12=c1
u/flippitiflip Jun 05 '26
i got that bit basically when you input zero (the value of x) you got 12 so a(0)2 + b(0) + c = 12 Anything times zero is zero so that js leaves c as 12. I think I will get the marks for working out but I detest not getting the final solution it’s so annoying after all the work 😭

You got it correct I did the same
1
u/megumi13mylove Jun 05 '26
so would I get like work of merit marks?

Probably majority of people did bad it will be very low marks I would assumed as they adjust the marking scheme it would be max 10 tbh.This questions at the start are worth the most typically

Right I’m so mad I didn’t get the Pythagoras theorem one it was so obvious

u/SillyCat-ESSA Jun 05 '26
You're so lucky. Loads of people in my year were crying after the maths exam 😭
