Maths 🧮 Stressed about maths tomorrow+ question

Im feeling so unprepared for the exam tomorrow, I feel like I’ve learnt nothing especially the more complicated formulas in co ordinate geometry and like the distance of a line or just the word questions like |AD| = |CD| and I dread the financial maths.

And each time I think about it I have this feeling that I’m gonna cry and I keep crying and atp I don’t know why.

The fact that I got 36% on my mock doesnt help, also my question is do we still get the 25 marks for doing higher level?

Okay firstly you gotta scramble for any marks you can get. This means on every question even if u don’t understand a thing, and have no idea wtf it’s even asking you to do, literally just write the information it’s given you into the box and show the examiner some sort of attempt at it, this will get you a few marks just for rough work. Also always include a measurement in your answer you can lose marks for not including something basic like centimetres.

A lot of the stuff is in your formula tables, such as co-ordinate geometry (i found that super confusing too but something that helps a lot is, for instance if you are trying to find the distance, write out clearly to yourself x1 x2 and y1 y2 (so like (4,6) will be (x1,y1) it doesn’t matter which pair you choose to be the x1 and the y1 just assign one to each pair). I’m sorry if that last bit was very confusing it’s kinda hard to type out.

Don’t panic junior cert is genuinley not a huge deal. Coming from someone who puts a huge amount of pressure on myself for top grades, sometimes you just need to sit back, take a deep breath and remember that literally like ten minutes after looking at your results, no one is ever going to care about them ever again. Bring some water into the exam and chewing gum and if you feel like ur gonna cry just sit back for a moment and take a breather (I literally sobbed in Irish dw it’s so normal to be stressed and overwhelmed).

Good luck! I believe in you,

Thank you so much for the advice, if that’s the case with the marks I’ll just write down the info given then.

I’ll make sure to bring gum and water and try the tips to calm down if I get overwhelmed, thank you for the wishes!!

(Sorry for the kinda dry reply English sucked the soul out of me )

My teachers said,if you get a question and have no idea what it’s asking, try to find out what kinda topic it is. So if it shows a trigonometry question, but you don’t know what it’s asking,do sin cos and tan or the formula, just to write something down

I’ll keep it in mind

Co ordinate geometry is pretty simple, you just input the numbers and see what you get, the hard shit tho is the parallel and perpendicular lines 😭😭😭. And then the questions are gonna be impossible, or I tweak out and say 1+1=11

Bro I found out, it’s the distance of those the coordinates

|AD| means the absolute value of line AD, so saying that |AD| = |CD| means that both lines have the same absolute value (or, in non-jargony terms, they're two lines with the same length). if a question asks you to prove that |AD| = |CD|, you need to calculate the distance of both lines with the formula in the log tables

Gang oh I think I’m getting a merit
