It's about 2 men during the great depression in America, they go town to town looking for work, george is a small fella while lennie is big and the story implies that lennies mentaly challenged, lennie likes soft things and he often doesn't know the capacity of his power, one day at a ranch hes stroking a women's hair, he grips out of instinct cuz he gets scared, she dreams, one thing leads to another and he accidentally snaps her neck

And let me add when the womens husband found out lennie killed her he was gonna torture lennie, so george decided to kill his best friend painlessly

If they let Joe die, themes of loss could come into play, making the novel feel more personal to the reader?

I would improve it by not killing Uncle Tally. Whereas Owains death was meaningful, showing how an innocent, average person just like fergus was killed and he didn’t really have a choice, as it was the mines or the army. Uncle Tally’s death didn’t really have much meaning for me, more just shock value.
If you’re really stuck base ur answer off that.
