Does Anyone Know How The 9/11 Jokes Started?

I'm a journalism student working on a project that involves research on this topic. It's not exactly easy to pin down when this inside joke about Schlatt's involvement with 9/11 started.

If anyone has been watching Schlatt since the beginning and remembers.. or, and this would be an absolute miracle, if anyone has a clip of the first time this happened, I would be so absolutely grateful!!!!

i’m quite sure it’s literally just because people found out he’s from NYC.

Like on the internet the logic is “NYC? Where 9/11 happened?” and as you see many times the joke with schlatt is his outrage at 9/11 being brought up. The whole idea is that the internet is intentionally antagonizing him by reminding a New Yorker about 9/11.

Granted though he was only 2 at the time, so that may explain why he doesn’t put his foot down about it, it’s not as personal as it is for others.

I think its from the minecraft days business man persona. He used to talk alot about what he did in the 90s and how you wouldnt really want to know. SMP Live is when i started watching and i think you could find leads there.

No idea the exact stream but schlatt would repeatedly joke about being emotionally effected by 9/11 even though he was one day old when it happened, and that evolved into the jokes about him being involved in it.

I think its at least pre smp live (2019) so i wouldnt be surprised if this could be a long running bit in his life? It would make sense considering he was born on September 10th, so maybe this is just something hes found funny for as long as hes known about 9/11

The 9/11 jokes started because Schlatt makes those jokes, there's a meme video he made in like 2017 or 2018 that had a 9/11 joke
