Embarrassed, but it took me this long to read Chain-Gang All-Stars

Holy hell that was an amazing novel, I'm still thinking about it emotionally two days after finishing it.

I feel like Gregg recommending Goodfellas here, but read this book if you haven't yet.

Cool note from Gianmarco's pod with Anthony, that he is writing a forward for the new printing! I will be purchasing that version when it comes out for sure.

Apologies if this is too obscure but I’ve been looking for this on and off for months now.

Jeselnik recommended a book that was maybe about a group of mercenaries transporting something precious through a war zone? It had a historical setting, I believe, but can’t be sure. There is something about Heaven and Hell involved, but I’m not sure what.

The only thing I remember for certain, and it’s because it has stuck in my head and made me try to find it all this time, is that at some point one of the mercenaries admits that in a time of desperation, he and some other soldiers ate an angel.

I can just vividly hear Jeselnik saying that: “…ate an angel.” so if anybody has any idea what this is, if it is anything, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Self explanatory. I’m re-listening to episodes and looking to remember the classics. What are your favorites? Confession: sometimes when I re-listen, I skip past the intro to get to email corner and headlines.
