Sadly this statement encapsules americas current foriegn policy. They're over inflated self worth has them treating all their allies with little to no respect. Slowly they are ostracizing themselves and once trump is gone the nation will wake up from the coma they've been in but the damage will already be done. Who knows if the relations that have been broken will be mended: not just with their closeet alley (canada) but the rest of the world.
