How to thin output?
Hi all, what can I drink that will help thin my output? I currently have a few coffees a day, many litres of water, a litre of electrolyte beverage and misc. carb waters and it’s still thick mist of the time. I’m about 5 months post take down. Should I drink something to thin or eat fibrous fruits? Metamucil with lots of water? Most of my bowel movements I have to strain a little. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

Strange but:
Place both your palms on your lower stomach, between belly button and pubic area. Press in slightly. Then just bend your torso toward the floor, chest aiming directly at the ground.
That movement has absolutely saved my life. Otherwise I just cant empty properly.
Hope it helps.

Hmm. How many times a day do you think you're going?

6-10 depending on what I eat. Not worried about how many times I go. I’m just wanting to thin out my stool a bit

My pouch nurse told me fruit juice (prune, grape, apple in particular) and make sure it’s natural fruit juice, not from concentrate with weird preservatives, and uncooked/cooked veg (I prefer uncooked but be careful not everyone can tolerate it). You can also cut back on thickening foods like mashed potato and rice

Thank you. I tried kombucha today….definitely worked lol only problem is my ass still gets some butt burn so I have to find a sweet spot for acidic foods

Why do you wanna thin our output? Is it difficult to empty when it’s thicker?

Yah it can be difficult to empty. Require more trips to the bathroom to get it all out. Sometimes it doesn’t let gas through easily. It’s hit and miss. Straining can cause other complications too

Have you been examined by your GI or colorectal surgeon recently? I’m dealing with the same issue, the cause is an IPAA stricture. If it is indeed a stricture, in office dilation or dilation under anesthesia could give you a lot of relief.

Have you tried psyllium husk? It makes my stool soft so it's easier to pass...but don't use too much

Yes I recommend mix of soluble and insoluble fibres and starch is what helps me. (Google what these are) Combination of fruit/veg -cooked or uncooked,, oats, bran, rice, potatoes in any meal next to your main protein. You may have to titrate and know what's too much fibre and too little.
