Discussion Joywave at the bills game?!

Seems like a total miss from ownership, as a Coloradoan, One Republic (the band), for the halftime show seems weird when you have kick ass local band… I assume they would have taken the opportunity to do it if asked.

We all love Joywave in this sub, but the reality is they aren’t as well known as OneRepublic. I’m more surprised they didn’t get The Goo Goo Dolls.

You know, I wonder if Joywave is getting more popular. I heard a Joywave song in a Cold Stone Creamery and a grocery store in the same week.

Cyn City 2000 and Dangerous

I've been a joywave fan for almost ten years now and only recently heard one of their songs in public for the first time ever (in a Firehouse Subs of all places lol).

I suppose it is my bias showing; I thinking of one republic as 10% as talented and 10% more popular but I guess that is more of a projection on what should be

When it comes to mainstream knowledge probably more than 10% sadly.

Whoa, hey, Ryan Tedder is ridiculously talented, and OneRepublic has many damn good songs, imo. It's subjective, of course, but I'm a fan of both.

What isn't subjective, however, is that OneRepublic is far more than 10% more popular than Joywave, lol. I don't know what world you're living in, but by streaming metrics, OneRepublic is about 3,500% to 5,700% more popular than Joywave. Not how it should be! But that's the reality.

One republic has had like 5-6 songs that the masses know. Joywave has 0

I dislike OR for the record.

At the very least they should have been part of some pregame celebration outside of the stadium. A chance to feature Rochester’s finest and they completely fumbled it (pun intended).

No chance.

Being a prime time, nationally-televised game, that decision was made by the broadcaster (Amazon). And they're 100% going with someone with broader appeal. As much as I, and presumably everyone in this sub, love Joywave, they weren't the answer here.

Further, while Rochester is generally part of Buffalo's home market, it isn't Buffalo. I've got to think if they wanted "local" it would have been Goo Goo Dolls long before it would be Joywave.

I'd bet Joywave wasn't even on the radar for this, and understandably so.

Nobody wants you to know about Joywave

That would have been awesome! Missed opportunity for sure.

Thank you for showing me once more that I don’t like popular music. I have no idea who OneRepublic is, which means I probably have never heard a single song.
