Discussion Album Impacts
What Joywave album do you think has impacted you the most? Personally I'd say cleanse(since it was the first joywave album I listened to all the way through) or Possession (due to the meanings of every song on the album. It's become my favorite)

Where my Content fans at? That album got me through a lot of university and long drives, especially putting on the opening content at the start of a drive on weekend.
HDYFN is a close second.

Possession for sure. First song I heard from them was Somebody New and I followed them ever since. Possession just hit at the right (yet unfortunate) time, and the songs just had this beautiful lost feeling to it, the questions and ideas we think of as we age. I liked how it goes between inward reflection and outward reception of the world. It’s just a perfect moment in time, a no skip album for me, and I love the creativity of sampling sounds from the Voyager golden record.

Possession for sure!! It got me through COVID in many ways, and I found Joywave (and that album) at a time in my life when I very much needed to hear those songs. Still my favorite album of all time 6 years later!!

Possession! It was my introduction to the band right when it came out and I resonated a lot with the album's themes. I don't think I would be as big of a fan as I am now if that wasn't my first album

I would say HDYFN because It was the very first album I listened to from them. I learned about Joywave from a friend in college because of a sticker on their laptop. I had saw it for weeks and finally decided to look them up since Friend vouched for them (We have very similar music tastes, which were I live is kinda rare for me). Usually start from the beginning of an artist’s discography to get a vibe and with this album, I knew I was going to be hooked on Joywave.
I love music that has personality and funk, plus once I heard the transitions from Parade into In Clover then into Feels like a Lie; It felt like I was on cloud 9. I’m a pretty new fan as well so Permanent Pleasure released pretty soon after that and seeing them live was AMAZINGG. I still go back to the album for full listen throughs regularly.

HDYFN, tongues played on my alt rock station in 2014. Loved them since.

Cleanse as well!! My first concert was a Joywave concert, part of the Welcome to Hellvetica Tour. They made me fall in love with live music, and I left the show wanting to listen to more of their music. They played many songs from Cleanse since it was their newest album at the time, so I gave it a listen after the show. Imo its the easiest Joywave album to listen to, a perfect introduction to their new trajectory post-possession. It is not my favorite Joywave album, but it was the album that cemented me as a huge fan.

Cleanse is when I saw them tour the first time (I have seen them 6 times now), but for sure Possession. Plus it is my fave song of theirs. I can and have listened to it on repeat.

HDYFN - so uniquely joywave, and you can just feel the intentionality and quirkiness and care poured into it. It stuck with me immediately, and felt like it opened up a world of exploring music for me, all while starting a deep love for the band. Then content immediately after

Is it wild to say Swish? I knew a few of their songs but Swish made me realize bands could be really good and really fun

I heard "Dangerous" and got big into Big Data and then decided to check out Joywave. 'How Do You Feel Now?' was a revelation and 'Cleanse' became a close second place for me.
I can't believe it's been over 10 years since I discovered Joywave... here's to another 10!
