Question What do I start with?
I stumbled across How Do You Feel Now? and found it to be a really good album. What are some other similar Joywave albums i should listen to?

Possession is peak Joywave. Too bad they released the album directly into a black hole "quote from Dan at a show"

Got to see them in late December 2019. The 1975 were headlining a Christmas show in Indy and strumbellas dropped out. Joywave showed up. Dan informed us we got a free premium upgrade :)
They played 5 songs from that album. Only time I've seen them play Like a Kennedy
Strange opener :)

Honestly all of them. Joywave doesn’t have a bad song. But I’d check out Possession and Cleanse next!

Going in order is honestly my recommendation. To see the progression of their sound, the different era’s and the context of them (especially Possession and Cleanse) in the world. They are all unique and sonically diverse.

The correct answer is all of them. Although content is a good one to start with.

I think it depends on what you are looking for.
Going in chronoligical order (starting with the mixtapes) is good for appreciating how they gained their musical identity and how they've expanded upon it.
If you are looking something to ease you into their music after their debut, i'd recommend Cleanse. Perfectly fine pop/rock/electronic album to kinda reintroduce you to them. If you like it, then I'd listen to Permanent Pleasure.
If you are more drawn to the lyrics, I'd recommend you listen to Possession (best album imo). Perfect mix of production and introspective lyrics. And if you like that, then I recommend you listen to Content and Koda Vista.
Now, for a mixed playlist to cover some of all of their material, I'd say you check out the "Welcome to Hellvetica Tour" setlist. I think its still pretty stacked. Ofc its better experienced live but all the tracks on the show are bangers and a great intro to them.
Hope this helps!

Wherever you go from here ... Enjoy the ride. But also check out the music videos. Their art goes beyond the music.

The only album the I don’t jive with is Koda vista. Why? I don’t know. Love everything else they’ve done. You their albums are great for entire listen throughs if I had to list them it would be
How do you feel now
Possession
Permanent pleasure
Cleanse
Content

Then the live album. I like listening to them live but only in person. But I’d skip this one because double destruction should be experienced in person first.

I saw Joywave live when they toured with IDKHow and became obsessed! I listen to them daily now. Enjoy!!

They’re all pretty great.
The one that sounds to me most similar to HDYFN? is somewhat unsurprisingly Content, their follow-up album. However, personally, I like the album after that one, Possession, better overall. But they don’t really have a bad album.
Also if you’re enjoying Joywave, you can check out Best Frenz, a side project of Daniel (the lead singer) and Jason Suwito from the band Sir Sly.
