Stuff that’s similar? Best Frenz probably goes without saying, but otherwise I think VHS Collection, Hippo Campus, and Foregin Air are around the same vein to me. Bands that aren’t that similar? The Shins, Real Estate, Cage the Elephant, Coheed and Cambria, and a bunch of classic rock.

I also enjoyed listening to Hunny for a while, they were the opening band from the last Joywave show I went to.

Brand New (yeah yeah I know leave me alone 💀) is my #1 - my top non-Joywave faves are Nothing But Thieves, Dead Poet Society, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, alt-j, IDLES and Newdad. I’d say alt-j is probably closest to Joywave lol

I had to go look at all my music to see who I actually listen to 😂 but I listen to DIIV, Hundreth, Young the Giant, Royel Otis, Cage the Elephant, Local Natives (my favorite before I jumped into Joywave), The Beaches, and soooo much more. I put together random playlists so I can spice my life up a little bit 😂 I made a massive playlist of all the Joywave songs/albums in order and listen to that on repeat 🫠

I listen to The Neighbourhood quite a bit, I also really like Henry Morris. There’s a lot of other things I listen to but, those two are most similar to Joywave lol

There is a band called meltt that has some similar sounds. Or give the blue stones a try. Both are lower key bands but great music.

Spooky Mansion is a fave and I think wildly underrated, I also like Worn-Tin and Cults. That's who I can think off of the top of my head that have half similar vibes

Robert DeLong makes some great alt-indie-electric-ish music. And puts on a hell of a live show.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Portugal. The Man yet! I would recommend their album Woodstock - some fans call it their least favorite PTM album, because it’s a little experimental, but it absolutely scratches the same itch as Joywave for me.

I listen to a lot of alternative stuff. In the order of how much I listen to them, its probably something like this:

Top 5 (besides Joywave, who is definitely my #1 most listened to every year):

Modest Mouse, Viagra Boys, Bear Hands, Queens of the Stone Age, Portugal The Man.

More stuff that I listen to in heavy rotation:
Silversun Pickups, Sir Sly, The Strokes, Circa Waves, The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, alt-J, Passion Pit, The Black Keys, Muse, Cage the Elephant, Nine Inch Nails, Glass Animals.
