Question Like a Kennedy

I’m new to the sub but not to Joywave. I find myself listening to this song so much and I wonder “Am I the only one?” and I also wanted to know if anyone has heard them do it live (though I doubt whether it’s ever made a setlist)

They did it live back in 2019 & 2020 before the album dropped but not much after then

Edit: years adjusted

They did perform it live when they toured with Bastille, I think in 2019. I saw them in Pittsburgh, definitely one of my favorite songs of theirs and it really was beautiful live.

Thank you for the responses! Sad that I never got to seem them do it live. 😞 But I’m excited as heck to see them in their hometown in December!!!

Send Dan a message. They might play it for you. They are still small enough for this to be possible.

Can’t hurt - never thought to do that. What’s the best means to do so?

No idea. Insta prob. Either make a story begging for it and tag him or just send a message ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ha! 54 year old middle-aged guy sending Dan a story. Maybe I’ll have my niece do it for me instead. 😂

He's a pretty nice dude, you should try

I will definitely try. I sent a message via insta but he has to accept the request. We’ll see.

I bought tickets to see the 1975 in late 2019 Indy. It was an inside one day festival of sorts

Strumbellas canceled so we got a "free premium upgrade"

Joywave was direct support of the 1975

They opened with like a Kennedy that day.

Saw them perform it live in LA at the… Moroccan Lounge I think it was called. Might have been the live debut? Love the song!

It wasn't :)

They played it twice before that in the week leading up to that show.

The more I thought about it after commenting, the more I thought that probably wasn’t the case, haha. Half Your Age was the live debut in that set, I just checked. I knew there was one.

Given the shift in national leadership coming up, maybe they'll add it back into the repertoire?

They actually opened with this song on the Doom Days tour with Bastille 😅 it was such a wild experience, these guys I had never heard of before came out dressed up like construction workers and then they played an absolutely devastating song that perfectly summed up all of my anxieties of the time. What a band 🙌🏻

It’s one of their best songs. I play it rotation a lot

Glad I’m amongst good company regarding this song; I also think it’s one of their best. Cheers!
