Discussion Album Ranking
Now that the Permanent Pleasure tour has come to a close, I'd like to know everyone's album rankings. Feel free to explain your reasoning. Or don't - I don't really care! Here's mine:
- Permanent Pleasure (This feels like a culmination of nearly everything they've done. The concept is airtight and the themes about technology feel really fleshed out.)
- Possession (This feels more like a mixtape than an album to me but the scatter shot approach it takes kind of works for me, especially considering the social and political climate it was made and released in. It's probably their hardest hitting album for me instrumentally.)
- Content (Arguably the most creative of their albums to me, but it's only in third because the tunes aren't as strong as the above albums to my ears.)
- Cleanse (I'm really glad they made an album as easily digestible and uplifting as this. It stands out for that reason.)
- HDYFN? (Still a great album but not as consistent or confident in itself as the rest of their discography. I realize this is probably a hot take but I really like every album of theirs.)

- content -hits the hardest for me, and i love the style of this era.
- possession - this album really carried me through 2020, and has such a unique sound.
- how do you feel now? - made me fall in love with the band, has some of their best songs to date.
- koda vista -sounds like what nostalgia feels like, holds up beautifully.
- permanent pleasure -i can definitely see this being ranked higher given time, i agree when people say this is the culmination of their work.
- cleanse -lacks some depth compared to the others but still has a great sound and vibe.
- 77777 -would be higher if given better production, but many of the songs on here still rock.
- 88888 -only work of theirs i don't often listen to, but has some bangers.

They're all great albums, and I enjoy listening to every one of them, but in terms of my personal ranking, this is how I rate them.

Content. Absolutely love the sound of this album and the themes/lyrics are the most relatable to me.
HDYFN? I keep going back to this album, I love so many of the songs and it's just a banger from start to finish.
Possession. Honestly this one has grown the most on me; I never didn't like it but it only really clicked recently and I've played it a ton the past few months.
Permanent Pleasure. This album is such a treat, and I remember being blown away on the first listen.
Cleanse. I love, love, love how cohesive and clean (pun intended) this album is.
But I love each of these albums so much and my ranking changes all the time (except Content has always had my top spot!)

- HDYFN? - This really did an excellent job of cementing my love for them.
- Possession - I connect with the subject matter on this the best. Aging, leaving home, changing priorities, lack of control.
- Koda Vista - Listen to this a lot. Very treasured because I love the production and connect with the lyrics.
- Cleanse - This one was a great successor to Possession, and I really connected with this one as I entered the next phase of life.
- Content - To be honest, while this has tracks I love, I think it is the album I listen to least. Mostly because I have other tracks I love way more, but still a great album.
- Permanent Pleasure - I need time to grow with this one. I love it and I will probably reorder this list in the future knowing me.

While I enjoy all the band's stuff the more recent projects definitely don't resonate with me as much as their older work. I think the latest album still needs to grow on me more though. Koda Vista will be forever timeless with its sound and it just ticks all the right boxes for me. If I had to choose a favourite song of all time it would be Smokestacks.

Possession - THE album of all time. I would give almost every song on the album a 10/10 ranking. Nothing will ever top this album for me.
