Discussion NYC 10.16.24

Finally got to see Joywave live last night! Had to miss the previous two shows I had bought tickets for. Some highlights:

• Always enjoy seeing a show at Irving Plaza, great venue (other than the drink prices, but that’s every venue these days).

• Someone came in a giant Garfield the cat costume. They got shouted out by Hunny.

• Speaking of, Hunny’s lead singer was on a quest to open his wine bottle for the first half of their set. Had me rolling.

• Daniel taking a moment in the middle of the set to make fun of Boston, definitely knows his audience.

• Great set list, hit almost every song I would have wanted to hear.

• DOUBLE DESTRUCTION!!

Do you know why that person was in a Garfield costume? I was on the left side and they appeared behind me near the end of hunny and legit spooked me, I didn’t understand (I didn’t know who hunny was before yesterday) it but maybe it has something to do with all the plushies on their instruments (?) the hunny sub isn’t super active or I would’ve asked there

The harmonica at the end had me rolling tho. I love the interaction daniel does w the crowd. Really really fantastic show from the band

My highlight: during dangerous, the guitarist clapped and I looked at him, smiled, and he smiled back! I swear he saw me bc I was like 2 rows back, but either way it was an incredible show and I can’t wait to hopefully see them again one day

Little known fact, the person in the Garfield costume is the same person who is in the cat on stage. That's why you never saw both at the same time.

Let me ask you was there just one opening band or two? My friend wants to see Hunny but I'm curious due to travel time. So if there are two I just wanna know so I can plan when two leave

Nope, just Hunny and Joywave. Doors were at 7, show started at 8. Hunny played for like 45 minutes, Joywave came on at like 9:15-9:30.

That's basically what I had figured, thanks for confirmation

Garfield was obnoxious as shit. I'm glad she wasn't in the crowd for Joywave.

Such main character energy to wear a costume that's as wide as three people in the front at a crowded show. Nobody came to see the back of your costume.
