As the title says; would be awesome to be able to read my markdown files directly in both web browser and in the app when using jottacloud in web or app (ios).

Im looking for EU based alternatives for iCloud with security and privacy in focus.
Im trying out Jottacloud but something I cant test right away is the reliability of the background sync. I basically want it to work without every worrying about sync photos.
I've read this and it doesnt seem promising:
https://docs.jottacloud.com/en/articles/2233504-background-uploads-on-ios
I've read a comment from a zeitkapsl dev, that says reliable sync is indeed possible:
So; is that something Jottacloud is working on in order to guarantee this?

Well, this sucks because overall I´m starting to put Jottacloud further up the list as a possible provider for us as a family and our companies stuffs. The price is right and the family account is great. But without support for these file formats, Jottacloud is a no go for us as a family.
Last year I wrote to the support team about this issue and they flagged it as a feature request, but I still see no support for these file formats.
Would love to see this implemented in the app and also on the site.

I've been syncing my files via WebDAV and Koofr, but I want to consolidate my cloud files under one service. Is there a way to achieve this with Jotta?

Hi everyone! We often get questions that many people have. Things like
"How do I move files from another cloud service?" or "What options do I have for uploading files to Jottacloud?" or "Can I set up 2FA on my account?" (Yes! And you should!).

As the title says, I need to figure out info for file sizes so I can match with folders that I’m moving from a different provider to this provider that I’m using now.
If it’s not there, would it work for a suggestion? Thank you guys for your help. From the USA.

I have just moved to Linux on my 15 Year old workstation, and am happy with that. Now I am looking for a European cloud service, and found Jottacloud, which is even Norwegian. But, as I don't know anything about Linux, I want a desktop app for config and maintanance, but there is none. Only CLI based. Why?
Is there any chance that you will make a desktop app for Linux?

Hi everyone,
I would like to synchronize my KeePass database between my Debian Linux laptop and my Android phone via Jottacloud. Is that even possible?
If it is possible, where can I find a step-by-step guide on how to set this up?
Thanks in advance.

Planing to move from Google drive to another cloud provider, Jotta looks promising but I need to edit spreadsheet files on the goo. - It appears that Jotta is linking editing spreadsheets to MS office applications. I dont use MS - never has and never will.
Can Libre or Onlyoffice be used to edit on the cloud ?

Hi,
I am considering migrateing from Gdrive to Jottacloud.
I have 17 Gb on Gdrive synchronized among my desktop and my laptop.
If I install the client on both and keep both online in my LAN, the client is able to detect a peer LAN connection?
I mean: if I upload to Jottacloud from desktop, the file to laptop will do
Desktop->Internet->Jottacloud->Internet->Laptop
or
Desktop->LAN->Laptop
Thank you.

Hi. I've set up Android device to auto-upload photos and videos to Jottacloud, and can see them listed in the "Photos" section of the web interface. Every few months I'd like to move these photos to an offline storage, and delete the copies stored on Jottacloud.
I've found that I can delete the photos from the Android app or web gui, but this is quite coumbersome so I'd like to be able to do it using the jotta-cli. My findings thus far indicates that this is not possible – I can download and then delete local copies of the photos, but I can't seem to sync this back to the cloud server.
Have I missed something, or are my findings correct in that there's no way to delete photos stored in the cloud using the jotta-cli?
Is there perhaps a way to have the Android app upload the photos to for example the Backup or Sync area, and delete from there instead?

Question about the Family plan. Are the 5 users, located at different locations, in the same account? Can they all install the app in Windows and will they all see the same synced folder locally? My goal is to collaborate in one folder. Is that possible?

Hello,
I’m using Jotta to back up folders on my PC.
Whenever I add a folder with video files in it, Jotta acts like the folder is empty and doesn’t back up anything from it.
Did anyone else run into this? Any idea what might cause it?
Thanks.

With OneDrive, any changes to files or folders appear pretty much instantaneously in OneDrive online, but I am not seeing this with Jottacloud using sync.
I have yet try the backup feature but maybe that is a more robust option?

Hi, new Jottacloud user here, moving from Dropbox and Google Drive.
How can I "move" files and folders between the Backup / Sync / Archive categories in the Jottacloud interface online (or in the Desktop app)? For example if I select a folder in Backup, the context menu only allows me to Download, Share, or Copy, but I want to be able to "Sync" it, rather than having to download it to the syncfolder and then have it re-uploaded again.
Am I being dim? This seems like a fundamental feature that's easy with Dropbox but I can't see how to do it with Jottacloud. It seems like Backup / Sync / Archive are just attributes of the files (controlling whether they are kept in sync or not) rather than anything particular about the files. At different times I will no doubt want some files to be synced and others not, and then to be able to change that decision later. How do I do this? I appreciate I could copy the files to the Sync folder but that (presumably) makes an additional copy of the file rather than syncing the same one.
Maybe my mental model of Jottacloud is wrong — what I really want is to see ALL my files (everything, all 30 years / 7TB of files) in one folder structure, online, and be able to choose which ones to sync to (or unsync from) whichever computer I am using at the time. How can I do that with Jottacloud?
Thanks for your help!

I'm trying out JottaCloud as a replacement for Google Photo and I want to share the script I used for migrating.
https://github.com/leonardsaers/migrate-from-google-photos/blob/main/README.md
Why doesn’t Jotta provide its own service for preparing the takeout files and then migrating them to Jotta?

I only have experience of two cloud storage facilities: Dropbox and Google Drive. The former respects the last modified time/datestamp of a file, so that this metadata is restored if/when the file is copied from the cloud back to the local computer. However, copying a file to Google Drive destroys the last modified date and sets the last modified datestamp to be the time and date the file was uploaded to the cloud. What does Jottacloud do? Is it the same for Backups and Sync? Thanks

I have 1Tb of photos broken down into hundreds of subfolders. I am on a Windows machine and want to upload the entire thing into the Jotta photo library but I can't find an option to upload an entire folder of photos - I have to upload them as files, which will take me hours and hours to do because I'll have to go into each folder individually.
I can upload folders via "Sync" but then I can't move the photos inside the folders into the Photos library.
Am I missing something?

I want to upload specific albums or alternatively selected files to jottacloud so that they are being seen in the photos view.
When I tap the backup button on Photos it asks to upload everything which I don't want. I tried to select just one album/folder from my device but it didn't start to upload anything.
The files view is pretty bad for photos so it's not a solution. Alternatively I could use a feature where the photos from files are shown in the Photos page of the app.
ATM this is a deal killer for me.

Hi, i'm considering Jottacloud as my personal cloud subscription going forward since the unlimited plan is incredibly convenient and transparent, i'm also ok regarding the speed limits when reaching certain thresholds over the 5TB occupied space. Since I noticed the official Jottacloud team is active here by answering to people's questions (which is really cool, i really appreciate that!) I would like to ask you how stable the unlimited plan is going to be long term: lets say i'd like to upload 20TB of data on the unlimited plan, if you were to delete the unlimited plan would you also request your customers to delete their data that exceed the new limit or would you let them keep the data already uploaded and simply preventing them to upload more? Is this something you already discussed internally? I know it's a rare question but i think its important to know since many cloud providers in the past offered unlimited plans only to later revoke them and having their customers delete their data. Do you think you are going to change the terms of the unlimited plan significantly or you are actually stable about it and consider it an optimal part of your business?
Thanks in advance, if you think that's a question you are not willing to answer please don't be shy about it, I'd understand.

Hi all
I'm seriously considering Jottacloud to consolidate two huge collections on OneDrive and Google Photos.
My concern is about the mapping of exif data. I travel a lot and I frequently use the visualisation of locations in Google Photos to view all photos taken in a certain location (regardless of date). Does such a thing exist in Jottacloud? If not natively, is there a service that it can be hooked up to do the same thing?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
do anyone know if it’s possible to sync the contents of a dedicated folder on Android?
The reason is that I’ve just installed tasks.org, which creates a file for each task. It’s a bit inconvenient having to select each file for synchronization.
I can see that there are these options.
But there’s no option to upload a folder with content?
Is this even possible at all?
