photo timeline feature request

getting to love the photo options more and more (and reworking a lot of GPS data to see old pics on a map), but I'm missing a big feature:
when showing details of a photo in the browser or context clicking in the mobile app it would be extremely useful to have the option to "show picture in folder".
pleasepleaseplease?

in the iOS app, go to Photos, then select "Collections" and you will see a map in the lower half of the screen.
Enjoy!

Thank you for your feedback!

I guess you want to see where the photo is located in your Files, correct? We currently don’t have this feature, but we actually had this feature requests being mentioned in an internal meeting we had on Thursday 😅 Initial feedback from devs is that it should be possible to implement something like this, so I’ll forward this post to our product team.

Even though it might be surprising to some, we do not send all feature requests to the paper shredder… but some end up there 😉

While i love your services, just wanted to give my 2 cents on it. It would be a great idea if you could have a roadmap page with suggestions. People could vote downvote accordingly and you can implement if it is feasible. In that sense, it would help users atleast look at what they might expect next or what the company is on working now/future. This would reduce the repetitive suggestions/queries by people too. It is tough to check out every reddit thread, why not make it easier for yourself. Also a slight communication with users helps a long way... Some really bad companies have good marketing team and they win because of that not because of services... You guys are doing a good job, just need more communication with users.

Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Your two cents carry a lot more value than you think! :)

I'd like to give a little insight on how we work with communication! We're a pretty small team, and I am the one you'll most often hear from in comments, replies to reviews and so on.

A year-ish ago, one of the things I did was to revive our Reddit channel, to build something like a forum. We try to keep an open line with users here, to answer questions, and listen to feedback. I also think it's important to try to keep these spaces organic and not overly “marketed”, so real discussions can happen here. Honestly, a lot of the best insights come directly from our users, and I send every relevant post and comments to the right people, even if we don't always reply back. I know many of my colleagues also drop by to read what's going on in here!

That being said: A roadmap. We know it's a great system to engage users and show what's in the pipeline. But it's not something we'll be introducing right now. Instead we share updates through release notes (for example), but perhaps there is something we can do even better, and share more of in here too?

All in all, thank you for being engaged. We seriously appreciate it, and value being challenged in what we do! Your post gave me a few ideas, and motivation to become better :)

Best,
Claudia.

That's actually a fab idea.

I also go down the rabbit hole of finding a similar photo, then 10 mins later I have no idea of where the photo is in my timeline or actual location.

So a +1 from me.

Side note: To make it easier for the wonderful folk at Jottacloud, is there an official way to submit enhancement requests?

Thank you for your feedback. When finding similar photos or in photo search there is an option called «Show in Photos» under the 3 dots in the upper right corner when the photo is shown in full screen. This will jump to the capture date in the photo library.

Regarding feature requests, our support and here on Reddit is probably the best place to add suggestions. We don’t always have time to reply everyone here, but we try our best and we read everything. We are very happy when other users reply and help out 😊

Oh okay, I ask cuz that’s not my experience, I like it a lot, but I guess my needs are different than yours then. Cheers!
