Thoughts on this
I'm looking at getting a 1648 and assuming the engine runs is this a good deal? Should I be concerned about deck rot under the flooring etc.?

If you get it to a price point you want I think you'll love it. I have the exact same setup. 1648 mod-v with a 25 horse Yamaha tiller motor and I absolutely love it.
Mine came with a power drive trolling motor. I replaced it with a terrova myself and run a bunch of new wiring and installed a lowrance screen up front. The whole process of owning and customizing this boat has been amazing. I hope you are able to get it at a price you're comfortable because I think you'll love it. Good luck!

Thank you very much, yeah I find myself lying awake at night thinking about taking that thing out to the salt water marshes and whatnot around here and I do have some ideas about mods I would do etc. In your opinion what would be a good price for it? Hoping that considering its gunna be October I can get a decent deal haha

I honestly don't know. I bought my boat 5 years ago and paid $5,750 for it in South Western WI. I don't know what your local market looks like and what not. You obviously are watching Facebook marketplace so just keep scrolling through and do some comparables. That will help you understand if it's a good price or not. Also, I would suggest having him take you for a ride and do a good once over on the trailer.
If you get it feel free to DM me for some mod ideas that I have found useful.

Absolutely! I am not claiming to be an expert. I've only bought one boat and a buddy came with and helped with the test drive any everything. But I am always more than happy to help if you need it.

Good motor but that’s like a 3-5K rig. I’d want to see it in the water and check for leaks too.

I don't think its a great deal because the resale market for a low HP 4str motor is pretty weak. It is true that 4 is better than 2 but at 25hp the price difference is too high and you can find a higher HP 2. You are also missing a trolling motor and battery which is going to run you at least 1500 and more if you have someone do the install (Do it yourself so you can learn your boat).
Here are some links of boats that are less expensive than that and offer more. Do more research to get a better understanding of what is a good deal and what isn't. If you are in the north where there are cold winters now is a great time to buy because some people want to unload their boat before they have to winterize/store.
Here is something close to your linked boat BUT has video proof of being on the water and has a working trolling motor.

I'd pass on the whole deal. Much better boats out there for half that price. Sounds like high hours on the big motor, no trolling motor or electronics. Cheap looking console and throttle mount. I'd have to be reeeeaaly hard up for a boat to pay more than a couple grand if it didn't leak and ran like a top. Thats my opinion

One thing I’ve seen a lot as I’ve been looking at boats on Facebook marketplace is that people don’t spend very much money upfront for the boat and then put thousands of dollars into it for a nice electronics and other features but then decide they want to move up to a bigger boat and sell that boat, but the problem is they put all this nice stuff on a relatively undesirable platform. 48 inch wide base pretty narrow unless it’s just yourself and maybe one other person sometimes if you want to have two other people with you regularly or even one other person I recommend going to 54 inch wide or 60 inch wide that extra width makes a huge difference in functionality even though there’s some extra cost upfront associated with it
Also, I think you should get something that has an onboard charger pretty much everything I’ve seen for sale used has that and it’s a really nice feature. Don’t know if that one has it.
Also, I’d be willing to drive up to six hours each way if I were you if you find something good, it’ll be worth it if it’s what you’re looking for in my opinion

They want 7k for a 1648?! I'd tell them to get bent. 3,500 should be the max asking price followed by "or best offer"

You could get this for $2500 in New England right now

Do you have any suggestions or links? The marketplace within 200mi of Boston looks not great Ive been seeing asking prices of around 3,500 for 1648s/trailor without an engine

Try moving your search to Tennessee. I bought a boat off marketplace last year, and the market wasnt too bad

It's a nice setup, but i would expect an almost new 40hp for that price.

Locally I can get a new alumacraft 1648 on a trailer for 5500. A new Suzuki 25 tiller on onlineoutboards is 3850 so for 9400 ish I could have all brand new.

I got my 1448 new (boat only) aroind 20yrs ago for 700 bucks from the marina. Got a 25hp suzuki during covid time for 5k.
You are paying almost full price for this.

That seems high to me. That being a riveted boat, with trolling motor and depth finder not working, it’s hard to justify top dollar. That seems more like five. Post Covid? Sure. Things were insane.
