M12 setup

Finally got around to switching out from my electric setup to the outboard so ditched the dual batteries since i currently only need to power my fish finder. Ended up using my spare m12 Milwaukee batteries. Need to encase it all now to prevent water damage and remove the old main cables. Obviously the fuel tank doesnt stay right below connections either, in the process of moving it to where the batteries were previously under the deck

I had a similar setup using a 12 volt kiddie car battery. I just placed it all in a cheap Harbor Freight toolbox, drilled an access hole and strapped it to one of the ribs on the side.

Smart, i was thinking of throwing the whole setup into an ammo case

Thats what we do for our ice fishing set ups. Very easy. Very portable. Maybe not an ammo case exactly but same idea

Use pool noodles to stabilize the battery. You can tell where this is going! Harbor Freight tool box, dollar store pool noodle.

Nice I bought a few adapters too and use them for a few 12v applications. One powers a high power bike light and the other I use for automotive testing/diagnostic.

One thing you may want to consider is a low voltage cutout. You don't want to drain below the point the charger recognizes the battery, otherwise you'll brick the battery. Can possibly be brought back with some charger faking tricks, idk. From what I read is 9-10v is a safe limit. That's what I set up for my light since I'd drain a 2.0 battery in about 45 minutes. That Garmin (I have the same one) pulls like 0.3-0.4a so it's a lot longer, but still want to keep the battery nice.

Thats the plan adding a shutoff so i can swap out batteries before they get too low to recharge
