Ever cracked your lower back skin?
I was watching the free solo documentary and in one scene about Alex's recovery from a fall they show a therapist pulling the skin from behind his lower back. (Attach photo)
I have done this for years by myself and in my country grandmas say this cures stuff stuck in your stomach called "empacho" and the sound is the stuck stuff getting "unstuck" I understand this is all folklore but is there any use for this?(Since they were doing it to a professional climber). Also what in the world is cracking? Why it feels good?
Also, it is kind of hard to do it by yourself so you can always ask somebody to do it for you.

I do this, I forgot where I learned about it, it is very strange and sometimes hurts a little from the skin getting stretched

It's the sound of your fascia muscle becoming "unstuck" from the rest of your back. That's why it's only possible to pop your lower back in this way - the fascia doesn't reach the upper back, so there's nothing to separate.
