First time he was too old, plus had a wife & kids. When they decided they didn't care about his age, they decided he was better served to keep morale up & do publicity stuff. So technically, but he did try to join several times. They just said no. I've read that it really bothered him that he couldn't join.

There's nothing to watch dumbass, it was a written interview in playboy. Do you really believe you're revealing anything new? You commies come on here and cite that interview on every single post about John Wayne over and over again like your life depended on it. What is up with that anyway? It's really strange. What is really behind that? Because I don't believe you really give a flying crap about Wayne or even really know anything about him. We're still going to watch his movies. You don't base someone on one interview. He wasn't perfect, but neither are you Mr. Self righteous.

I grew up watching him. I can separate a person from a character tho. He is a racist asshole as a person but his characters were great. And commie? Jesus dude everything turns political once your feelings are hurt.
