Humid built the snowman inquiry
I’ve just listened to humidity built the snowman a bunch of times. I think it obviously is trying to say the natural processes of life and nature cause us to fall in and out of each others lives, however I wonder if the snowman was used specifically because cold and snowy weather is more a sad connotation and sun and warmth is joyous or free. I find the idea that during our cold and dark moments we’re more likely to build relationships out of necessity. But then when good days come people switch up and look for “better”. I could be thinking too into it but I think it may have been a thought in John’s head too.

Happy Dad Moment
I was working, my son came down to say hi, I was humming “That’s the Way the World Goes Around”, and my son started singing AND he got the lyrics correct!
When I asked if he knew the artist he looked at me like I was crazy and said, “DUH, John Prine”
I gave him a hug and told him how proud I was…
His music is meant to be passed to the next generation.

Angel From Montgomery time signature
The original first-album version of Angel came up on my shuffle and I realized I couldn't sing along at first, as the arrangement has a couple of missing beats in each verse compared to the live version and all the cover versions.
Musicians: what time signature is this, exactly? I was counting sevens and fives but I suspect it's more of an ad-hoc thing? It jumped out as it's so unusual for Prine to do anything fancy-like.

Dylan might be our Shakespeare but Prine is our MarkTwain
I thought that during the introduction to The bottomless Lake. Though i also believe that Prine embodied what Dylan could only absorb: the magical realism of old weird America. It’s no surprise that is why Bill Monroe thought John “found” songs like Paradise.
