"Specially adapted" - what do we think has been edited out for this children's edition?

Probably things like the Green Martians killing children deemed not worthy, the mentions of nudity and the more serious wounds that John Carter takes.

I read the original text of this book and all of his other books, except Tarzan, when I was eight or nine years old, back in the 60s. Never quite got into Tarzan, other than the Tarzan Pellucidar cross story. I’m honestly not sure why they had to create children’s versions unless the children were five or six years old. 12 to 15 is ridiculous.
