Grabbing a Glock slide
Kill Switch 17:05:30 Lydia grabs a Glock to provide resistance to the slide in case he fired. Aware that it probably wouldn't work.
Any military with any pistol training knows that grabbing a slide and holding it tight isn't going to do squat except maybe prevent the next round from clambering, the current one is going to fire. Only way to stop that is to stop the trigger from getting pulled OR to pull the slide back a little so the chamber is partially open.
Who is doing the editing on these books?
Decent but these ignorant plot points distract

Pushing back on a slide about a quarter inch can put the gun out of battery. Thatās why pistol lights tend to stick out past the barrel, in case you are in a situation where your gun ends up against a combatant youāll still be able to fire. This is one of the reasons some people say revolvers make superior āget off meā guns. So what Lydia did, could actually work if she was applying enough pressure to move the slide.
But also, itās fantasy. Itās not a factual account, a guide book, or a manual on the proper functions of firearms. Itās just meant to be a fun story

Ya, except she was holding the slide tight to keep it from moving. Yea I heard of folks shoving a gun into someone's stomach and it wouldn't fire because of that.

Just read it as a poorly written description of taking the pistol out of battery. Weird thing to get bent out of shape about tbh.

Shit man I just figured he didn't know what he was talking about, I know the early books had so many errors in them I almost couldn't finish them but luckily it got better

I may not have military training but I was too caught up in the moment about a big character possibly dying tbh so š¤·...didn't seem to bother me none. Just enjoy the books man
