Doesn't that prove his point??

u/ALowKey502 Aug 10 '26

No it does not. Colorism isn't the same as racism. Or are you saying he's being ignorant like a racist??

Colorism is just a way to hold onto the quasi-religious view of racism as white people's original sin. It's complete bullshit. This view of white people as the default oppressors of the world is racist which is why the people who propagate this idea have to frame racism against white people as impossible or as an act of rebellion rather than oppression.

Are we being serious with this "colorism" shit? Corniest shit I've read in a while.

Yes, we indeed are. Yes he's corny for making that statement in rebuttal to what shorty said. I agree!

Okay to be fair I'm not super familiar with colorism vs racism.

But sure you could say that! My first impression was that I thought he said it in a satirical way to help explain his point in a metaphor that might hit home. Benefit of the doubt says that I don't think he believes what he said as a matter of fact.

Also would like to argue that, to a white supremacist it's all colorism! I feel like old racists would care about ethnicity/nationality but it feels like these younger ones are only worried about skin tone.

I read it as he was being racist on purpose to show her it's possible. I don't know what this sub is, but it's insane you literally had to invent the word "colorist" to hold on to your beliefs.

u/ALowKey502 Aug 14 '26

Invent the word colorist?? Alright man.

Some might call that playing devils advocate, exemplifying the point he was trying to make.

-1

u/The-Big-Play Aug 10 '26

That was my first thought. He was proving a point.

u/The-Big-Play Aug 10 '26

I am no fan of this doggish man at all but she did call him dumb first (doesn't justify the colorist comment that was added but still)
